  1. That explains what I’m seeing on my camera towards the SW! I look forward to the plume drifting closer so I can enjoy the smell

  2. Apparently there was 86,000 lightning strikes detected in Washington state with the storm on Saturday. 32,000 were in Oregon. 16,000 in western WA! https://komonews.com/weather/scotts-weather-blog/nearly-87000-lightning-strikes-in-washington-saturday-nearly-23-annual-average Really was an awesome storm.

  5. High of 93 forecasted today. South winds of 30 mph and dews in the mid 50’s so it won’t be bad. We got back to Weight workouts this morning with our high school football team. Beautiful weather. Kids were pumped to see each other and interact. Most hadn’t all been together since March 16th. Nebraska allows groups of 25 to work out together, though our head coach is having no more than 12 in a group for now per coach and we have multiple places to workout in stations.

  7. Eh, this is more ad hominem. My opinions on Tim are pretty well-publicized. Nice guy and l like him. Good family man as far as I can tell and he has a nice yard, likes to go on vacation and posts too much while on them. Passionate and knowledgeable about the weather and follows it with a OCD level of obsession and is desperate to normalize his obsessive behavior. Loves to make sure we know snow melts and that the sun can be felt when it’s cold out. He is stubborn, closed minded and will shift the goal posts when needed although he’s not the only person here that will employ that tactic. Where I separate myself from the pack is how passionately people will go out of their way to make a polarizing figure even more polarizing through the use of almost constant ad hominem. Phil is the biggest instigator in that. It kind of reminds me of these protests where people poke the bear, get him riled up and then play the victim when the obsessive bear won’t let it go. He doesn’t know how to let it go, yet people still engage him and then lose their minds as well in the process. You’re never gonna get me on board with that. And for that I am truly sorry.

  8. Our fine democrat KC Mayor is down on the Plaza protesting with all of these animals. This coming after he crushed people’s businesses and places of work due to the virus! No social distancing now Mr. Mayor??? Elbow to elbow right now with 1000’s of people. What a show and all planned...

  9. Dude, even Jesse couldn’t claim being anywhere near stoic about the weather and you’re three miles further down the spazzy tracks from him.

  10. All in all a close to average spring temp wise, for the region. But much drier than average.

  11. This pattern in winter wouldn't be all that special. Maybe some cold NW flow which is good for the mountains but it's not a lowland snow pattern. The big cold in winter happens when you have a big ridge in the Gulf of Alaska extending up into Alaska. Having a ridge in the eastern US also helps. The cold then comes out of northern Canada and into the western US.

  12. I like how he started with “nice guy” then listed a bunch of traits that is pretty much the opposite of what you think of when you hear that description.

  13. I was really impressed with how you managed to describe the entirety of Tim's persona so succinctly, but this got me thinking a bit. His posts are so predictable and consistent, how do we know he isn't just a bot?

  18. Saw some people that I follow on Twitter saying they are seriously thinking of moving out of big cities. Unfortunately police can’t be everywhere, and some cities have such strict gun laws, the average person can’t defend themselves. Everyone I know owns guns, but they have been trained. Mainly for hunting and collecting. Just my 2 cents. Small town living may be boring, but it sure is safe. Back to weather. Very windy with temps soaring to 94 this afternoon.

  26. Got some good hikes in before the weather turned to crap. Wednesday went up to Paradise park on Mt. Hood -almost, turned around when I hit about 5200 feet due to the 6 feet or so of snow, found a cool little snow-free meadow on my way back(first pic), Friday I did Mirror lake, never been up there before, a few too many people but still beautiful (second pic). Last Sunday I did Tamanawas Falls, another good one, just too many people..

  28. I’m far from stoic about the weather. Fine admitting that. I’m guessing most of us care more than the average person since we’re all here posting all the time.
