I went for my first-ever storm chase with my buddy over in eastern Washington on Saturday. Originally positioned in Othello before booking SE to the Kennewick/Pasco area due to cell isolation and better dews. The anvil on this beast was phenomenal, seen all the way from Ellensburg at noon. On this day, I experienced both my first severe thunderstorm warning and my first enhanced risk. This is what I got out of it; photos taken in the Burbank/Wallula area (admittedly on an iPhone, so obligatory "photos don't do it justice"):6 points

Hard to remain stoic in the face of fairly typical nearly June weather.5 points

We wanted some heat and we got it. It is currently 91/68 in Cedar Rapids. My body is not used to it. This it the first time Cedar Rapids has hit 90º since last July.5 points

Hit a toasty 95 degrees today in Omaha, just three degrees short of the daily record high for the day (the record of 98 degrees was set back in 1911). Not feeling optimistic that we will see much of any thunderstorm activity in the metro area tonight... there's a small chance that a storm could roll through later, however the better chances are off to the north and east as there is currently a severe-warned storm just southeast of Sioux City in Monona County, Iowa.3 points

Picked up 1.3” of rain in about 20 minutes. Minor flooding on my property due to a clogged storm drain. Whoever answers the phone tomorrow morning at the city office is going to wish they hadn’t answered.3 points

Beautiful day out. Just about perfect. 77 degrees. Looks like a chance of convection this weekend, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Looks like the cascades could get some snow this weekend. That could be interesting for campers. On another note, thank fuckk the June thread has started with mostly weather talk. The may thread was a constant clusterfuckk of personal attacks. Page after page. It's always the same players. You know who you are. Personally think some more forum moderation should occur. This forum becomes unreadable at times. That's why I rarely participate.3 points

99 degrees currently in Clarion, IA. Tiffin is reporting 93 with a dew point of 69, heat index of 98.43 points

A darkening sky to the NW and slowly moving in is one of my favorite things to watch during anytime of the year.2 points

Yup, I always laughed at the summer starts July 5th thing, that probably applies to only the rainiest/cloudiest stations in western WA.2 points

Storms are really getting going across S MN. I can actually see the high clouds blowing off the storms way off to my north. I love the anticipation. Sitting out on the deck with a cold one and chops on the grill. 93 degrees2 points

Already 85F at 10am, heading up to 92 today. Dew point is only 60F but that should be increasing soon. Enhanced risk of severe storms just south of here. I'm hoping we get some rain. My lawn is looking real good, finally.2 points

I did find out that there is such a thing as Snow Volleyball, as a result of the lack of live sports right now. Thanks ESPN81 point

Looks like Josh might see some flakes in the air in Lakeview on Sunday.1 point

It is now a very warm 80F and a dew pt. of 69F. Ingredients are excellent for severe weather. Storm cells are now in central Wisconsin and headed towards SEMI, especially, towards the northern suburbs, where it is expected to get hi the hardest. Have to make sure I turn on all of my weather notifications tanite.1 point

Lot of lightning due north suddenly. But I think it will miss me to the NE. Wind is really picking up though.1 point

Storms literally fell apart just miles from my backyard. Haha! Oh well. Still fun to watch. Getting some darker lower clouds now and the wind went from calm to a bit breezy from the NW. Most of the day it was a breezy SW wind. Fun stuff Edit: I think the boundary is moving through. Just not much action for mby1 point

Temp went from 90 to 71 in a matter of 20 minutes with the first storm cell. Good stuff.1 point

It shows average precip and slightly below average temperatures overall. Pretty typical stuff. What are you waiting for, exactly?1 point

90F here but the dew point has fallen from 62 to 52 as the storms approach. The storms in that sagging line to the north are producing an incredible amount of lightning.1 point

I know this is the June thread but any guesses on the 4th of July weekend? This pattern of clouds and sun under the week with rain on the weekend will probably hold for another month. I expect 4th of July weekend to be an absolute wash out. Jesse, this ones for you!1 point

Ended May with 6.55", more than 3 times as much as April. One hundredth short of tying December. Glad to see rain already back in the forecast this weekend.1 point

It looks like we are in store for some nice warm summer weather. I love it when there are high temperatures in the upper 70's to low 80's and lows in the upper 50's to low 60's. If I have my way that is the kind of weather we would have that all year long. But at this point I would settle for that all summer long. At this time it is sunny and 78 here at my house.1 point

The 00z Euro is much sexier than the 12z. Troughs on both coasts and a suppressed 4CH with a dynamic post-tropical cyclone crossing half of the US. Love it.1 point

Seems like you have the ability to travel freely throughout the west. Places where sunny and 80 is the norm in June aren’t that far away... The lower Deschutes is probably pretty close to that for June averages.1 point

Same around here. Nearly all land owners and many more have several guns, mostly for hunting. Two of my brothers are hunters, but I just never had any interest in hunting, though I'm not against it.1 point

Got some good hikes in before the weather turned to crap. Wednesday went up to Paradise park on Mt. Hood -almost, turned around when I hit about 5200 feet due to the 6 feet or so of snow, found a cool little snow-free meadow on my way back(first pic), Friday I did Mirror lake, never been up there before, a few too many people but still beautiful (second pic). Last Sunday I did Tamanawas Falls, another good one, just too many people..1 point
