April was a wet month and May looks to start wet. NWS Kansas City Here at the home office on the Pleasant Hill, our 2.67" yesterday put us at 5.91" for the month of April. That's good enough for 5th place. 1st place is 2017 with 6.33." #AlmostMadeIt #IfYouAintFirstYourLast. #mowx

Quite dry at DSM. 1.28" for April which is only 33% of normal 3.86". Only mowed my lawn once, usually half dozen or so most years.

Well im quite shocked after models back off completely on good rain here. Several counties with half to 1.5 here. I have 1.0 my home.

Oh gawd. I guess 1992/93, 1998/99, and 2016/17 are loose matches? Most of the best shear stress matches are +ENSO, with the exception of 2016/17. Multiyear +ENSO followed by -ENSO isn’t a frequent combination, and the ones that immediately come to mind such as 1988/89, 1995/96, etc, aren’t good analogs from any other standpoint except for that.

2016-17 actually doesn’t seem like a bad analog. It had a developing Niña, premature flip to +QBO, and was fairly recent as opposed to old analogs where the Hadley Cells weren’t as wide as they are at present.
