Picked up 3.3" of rain at my house the last couple of days in strong storms with some small hail, but nothing particularly severe. We did score a tornado watch here for the first time since 2019 (I assume - none in 2020), but the conditions were pretty marginal I thought. Kind of like the MLB player that breaks his 0 for 20 hitless streak by hitting a soft popup that nobody gets to. Still, better than a tornado grand slam for sure...lol5 points

It was raining basically all night with very light rain continuing attm. 1.64” so far. Had occasional lightning and thunder for awhile after midnight as well.5 points

Earliest tropical system ever recorded just off the Mexican coast! And this follows a record setting tropical season of 2020. Beautiful day here. Mowed the lawn and did some other yard work. Time to put some chicken drumsticks and veggies on the Weber. And have a cold one. Happy Mother's Day!4 points

57 and its been cloudy all day, nothing in the rain bucket. Happy Mother's day to any moms on here, and to the poor moms married to this crazy collection of weather geeks. My wife gave birth to 3 kids, but I think she sometimes feels like she has 4 kids!4 points

Very nice 1.6" rain here in the Ottumwa Iowa area. Widespread 1 to 2 inches across the entire area. Models were exceptional. Started late but was quite the event with brutal east wind. Many have roof leaks owing to the wind. We have 5 gauges on 2 properties. Each was different with the wind I suspect4 points

Caught the 3 AM southern MO storm last night near Cassville. Ping-pong ball hail and tree damage. I figure if that little storm had that kind of kick, the ones up north did too.4 points

Whats most interesting to me is they’re popping up under pines/conifers just as much as they are hardwoods, which goes against the conventional wisdom that cicadas avoid ovipositing in conifers. There’s an eastern white pine next to hit house that has hundreds of holes clustered around it. Maybe they were oviposited in hardwoods but tunneled underground to other trees? But then again, these pines are something like 50-75ft away from other hardwoods and on a hill. I’m going to watch closely this year to see exactly where they go. Still no signs of emergence. But we’re getting close. Probably a week out.3 points

Heavy rain and strong winds overnight with some small hail. I recorded 1.81 inches. Winds are still gusting to 28 mph and the temp is a chilly 48.3 points

Dribbles and drizzle here, since about noon yesterday. Only 0.03” to show for it but enough to keep the dust down2 points

I finally finished the partial engine rebuild I did on my 1997 Expedition, and it runs fantastic! Yay! From that standpoint all of the dry weather has been a blessing since I was doing it outside.2 points

Absolutely and unequivocally correct and well said. Have to see the globe as a whole instead of looking at all the places we're told. Same that we need to look at the atmosphere vertically more than we do.1 point

Temp in the low 40’s and wind chill in the low 30’s making it a very chilly Mother’s Day here in Central Nebraska.1 point

The month of May is now below average at most locations. And in the last 27 days there have been 22 days below average and only 5 day above average. The over night low here was 37 and at this time with cloudy skies it is 41. It has not only been cool it also has been some what dry. Officially at GRR they have reported 1.04" of rain in the last 27 days while here at my house I have only recorded 0.78" of rain fall.1 point

Hey my hills are down to only a couple inches of snow, and Baring/Index are starting to lighten up. Unacceptable! lol You could always buy my neighbor that i had to invol's house when it comes up for sale lol (and boy is that a story)1 point

Considering the lack of any model talks from either Tim or Snow (the usual extreme scenarios) I recon it's a pretty . pattern coming up. Oh and also considering this is becoming an auto repair forum.1 point

Yeah every year since we moved here in 2017 but usually it's just an inch or two here and there sprinkled throughout the month. Don't think I've seen more than 3-4" in a single storm for the month of May. Record single day snowfall is 15" (1938) in Bozeman so obviously not even close to a record.1 point

I’ve found this spring to be pretty enjoyable. Could have been a little wetter here to better prepare my lawn for the summer dryness, but overall a pretty good mix of clouds and sun with just enough deck weather along the way.1 point

Might as well get it over with. We're approaching the point where t'storms will be the biggest source for rain east of the cascades next 5 months.1 point

If you look closely at the data, it’s already begun IMHO. It started around 2013-14. We can always disagree. Btw, I wasn’t referring to the U.S. but instead, I was looking at the globe as a whole and specifically what’s been transpiring up north in Canada in recent summers, or lack there of.1 point
