  4. What an absolute perfect day to be at the lake. Went to exercise at Seward Park after work and it was stunning. Also went for another bout of exercise before the sun set at Jefferson Park with a wonderful sun halo but forgot to took some pictures.

  5. Seattle Times has a story this morning about a movie being filmed in downtown Seattle this week (directed by Steve Soderbergh) which is also set in Seattle and they wanted dark, rainy weather. They have been standing around bemoaning all the sunshine and waiting for a cloud to pass over so they can spray everything down to make it look wet and film in short spurts when the sun is not completely out. https://www.seattletimes.com/entertainment/movies/how-the-first-afternoon-of-shooting-in-seattle-went-on-the-set-of-steven-soderberghs-movie-kimi/

  7. Absolute perfection today. I appreciate nice weather in May and June more than in any other months. Its pretty depressing when its dark and gloomy during the longest daylight of the year. I don't mind some rain and gloomy days mixed in... but these extended periods of sunshine are a real treat. And knowing that summer is just getting started. I realize its always this way in Oregon... but not always up here.

  8. 12Z ECMWF showing a warm and sunny weekend ahead... as does all the models now. And it looks like its on track to crash early next week which would also be nice. Timing is everything.

  9. I must be weird but I love rainy, stormy hikes. Especially in the fall when the trees are turning.

  10. Rolling through the home stretch on spring, figured I'd post the map of my 14 day rainfall. Very blessed here to not have droughts this year, as the west has begun hoisting drought emergencies yesterday with much of the region under drought of some form.

  12. Well, its been cold in KC for better then a month now. Sure, we have had some warm days in there, but, overall, very cool weather pattern since the middle of April. Hasn't been overly wet, big rains when they have occurred. Scored 1.67 inches of rain Saturday night this past weekend.(we actually needed it, with all the dry NW winds and low humidity, soils were sucked dry) No severe weather in KC, just some good ole thunderstorms. We have not had anything severe really for two years. The last two years have been too cool for severe weather in April and May.

  13. Maybe a record slow start for Iowa as well! This was as of the last day of April already for the DMX CWA. For Iowa as a whole.

  14. Been rather wet down S. -- Since March 01, 2021, ( 71 Days), New Orleans International Airport has received 30.37 inches of rainfall. Normal value is 11.36" in that time frame. That's absurd.

  17. Just got home, and I was posting as recently as this morning. Today was a pretty day. Just because this weather pattern is about the farthest thing from ideal right now for our region doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate a day at face value. Got some nice hiking in this weekend too. Anyway, I apologize for not being on as much lately. I know I should be filling this place with harrowing anecdotes and endless pages of whining and complaining like certain people would be doing if the meteorological tables were turned right now. Since that is so productive

  18. Pattern looks to remain active, cool, and wet for the I 70 corridor. Hopefully some beneficial rains for others who have missed out over the next 10 days.

  28. It's like mother nature wants to put up a road block from I-80 on north...last week the models showed a decent chance for our northern members to score some precip but that has all since trended south due to all the blocking. Sign of the times. 00z Euro...wider view... Meanwhile, out here in the Valley of the Sun, the forecast calls for 2 consecutive days of 100+ Heat later in the week...Fire Season has come out of the gates fast. In fact, there was a small brush fire in Fountain Hills last week that was put out rather quickly. Not so much up in the mountains, however, as there are a couple big fires ongoing. People are praying that we have bonafide Monsoon this season. My gut tells me that this year's Monsoon will be beneficial.

  31. Just got back from 4 days in Vegas. 90's every day. It was pretty uncomfortable most of the day but stayed hydrated enough through several rounds of golf to survive. Mid 60's on the trip back to the car tonight felt rather chilly. I am ready for summer here now

  36. I have no idea what "normal" is like- but Tornado Alley has to be WAY behind in Tor watches this year-and Iowa with 95% of state not seeing a simple Severe TS Watch-- must be close to a record.

  37. Feels like it’s already been summer for the last few weeks here. Little bit of rain on some days but most of those even had sunshine at some point. Has been one of the nicer springs I can remember.

  38. Best investment haha. Others told me and I didn't believe them until I did it. I don't mind the heat, but having no place to cool off sucks. It was especially helpful the last couple of summers with all the smoke. Was able to keep the house closed up and some of the smoke out etc.

  42. Models keep trending cooler for the weekend in and around the MW/GL's region. It now is looking like there could be a rain event on Saturday sweeping across the corn belt regions of the MW. . The quiet wx pattern this week will help dry out out those who got soaked from the weekend storm. Next week things get warm and active across the corn belt. A summer like pattern is in store my friends! It may be time to bring out the boats and fishing gear.
