  3. I was also there. Beautiful storm that wasn’t even severe warned! IMG_6987.MOV

  4. @Clinton Storms that rolled through MBY were pretty much heavy rain producers but nothing severe to speak of. I added another 1.5" of rain overnight and this morning. It was already wet here from previous rains so now it is 1.5" more wet than it was.

  5. No but Clinton, MO. is about 20 miles south of my house. I've had training thunderstorms this morning and recorded 3.10 inches of rain so far.

  6. Heavy thunderstorms look to continue through the morning. This will likely push the severe storms south of my area this afternoon.

  7. Hope it's not the power to your mind flickering. Finally we got 0.40 of rain down here mostly this morning. Now we can enjoy Tim's green grass heaven.

  9. Picked up 1.25" of rain last night from the rain with embedded thunder in my backyard. I was expecting a loud night with strong/severe thunderstorms, obviously that didn't happen as this has been the trend all spring so far. The heavy rain was very welcome though!

  10. Nice bowing line of storms pushing through the south side of KC @mlgamer @Jayhawker85 looks like some wind and hail.

  11. It's a chilly and breezy morning with a steady NE wind off the lake. Temps are in the mid 50's (54F) and slept with the window cracked open a bit to let the cool breeze in. Great sleeping weather! Gotta get through these next couple days and what looks to be a heavy precip producing system come later today/tonight. Another 1-2" of rain looks to be on tap area wide. This weeks precip could potentially put a big dent into the severe drought. ORD is about (-2.55") behind in precip for the month. Yesterday, my mother flew in from Arizona and her flight route took her straight through the Tornado Watch area in C KS. In fact, while monitoring her flight on my phone, she flew just south of the Tornado warned Super cell NW of Witchita last evening around 6:00pm CST. I asked her when I picked her up if there was turbulence and she said.."This was the first time in a long while that I've felt that kind of turbulence." She also mentioned that the clouds were towering higher than usual. I had to educate her that super cell storms typically have towering clouds way up into the troposphere. I'm just glad she made it here safe and sound. Oh, she did say that the pilot mentioned on the intercom that the storm to the NW of the plane was producing Tornado's! Gosh, can you imagine all the nervous people on the plane???

  12. We had a moderate-heavy band sit over us for awhile...in a break now but it won’t last long. Might get close to an inch of rain today or over if we keep getting hit by these heavy downpours. What a blessing have really missed good heavy rain like we’ve seen on and off all day.

  13. 0.59” of rain today. Not bad at all. 4.54” this month. A tiny bit above average.

  14. I only received about 0.25" from the initial band of precip, but a little tail back-built to the sw and led to several more brief downpours moving through. My total is now 0.70". There was a bit of thunder at the leading edge of the rain this morning. My May rain total has sneakily risen to 4.52", which is above average.

  15. You are correct. I wonder if the early evening storms robbed moisture from a line developing? I finished with 1.70” but no severe weather and wind gusts maybe hit 20 mph.

  16. Up to 0.12" on the day, but the big story was the wind. Gusts were close to 40 mph and the fruit trees were not happy, but we didn't lose any of them which is good. Today actually had stronger winds than most of the storms this past winter.

  17. It’s funny how we tend to track dry season rainstorms like we do snowstorms in the winter. Both are pretty fun in my opinion although snow is a little more.

  18. Out on the deck grilling up some burgers. I’ve put on a sweatshirt as the temp is in the low 60’s with low dews and northwest winds gusting to 30 mph as lows are headed down to around 40. It feels like a high school football Friday night in late September or early October.

  19. You almost caught up with me. I’m not quite sure what my total is. Probably around 5” now after only 0.23” today. What a dud of a system here. I’ll try to post my total sometime. Just now the sun is poking through. Crazy how warm it is a few counties sw. of here, and cold just north! Amazing temperature contrast and still nothing exciting, which is normal anymore.

  20. Ended up with 1.06" of rain. Mainly just some moderate rain with embedded thunder at times. Definitely not the result it looked like would happen yesterday/last night. I'd say a huge underperformance for the severe weather yesterday. There were a few tornadoes and big hail, but most of western Kansas stayed shut off. There were storms that formed late morning and probably messed things up even for those of us in central and eastern Nebraska as the squall line never really materialized. Plenty of storm chaser were really disappointed/pissed off with yesterday's results.

  22. Up to 0.31” today after that shower. Suns fully out now and the ground is steamy. The sun inbetween these heavy shower bands should help make things interesting this afternoon.

  24. FWIW, I said this back at the end of March. Think my original analog-based forecast was good. But I got cold feet after that and backtracked when I shouldn’t have. Analogs even picked up this early June ridging (3rd paragraph). Of course nothing is perfect, and this probably won’t be either.

  25. Because there’s an MJO and a CCKW projected onto those RMM plots (along with a tropical cyclone in the IO in the near term, which should resolve today or tomorrow). I know it’s weird. As for the PNW pattern, am also taking into account in-situ AAM transfers & wavetrains present. There’s wiggle room outside MJO, especially in phase-8 at this time of year (which has reduced correlations overall, unlike phase-7/WPAC which is a strong warm-west signal the vast majority of time). Also, if I remember correctly, didn’t you think the MJO signal would die in phase-2 and loop back to phase 8-1? I recall models killing off the signal before phase-3, which turned out to be wrong.

  27. If the 00z EPS is right, the idea of early June heat to build up in the Upper MW and migrate east is on the calendar. How long does it last??? The JMA weeklies are showing a continued theme for TX/OK and parts of the S Plains as we roll into June. Summer time warmth is to overspread the Northern parts of our Sub as a ridge develops over the lower heights in the south. Week 2...Upper MW/GL's warmth...quite a wet pattern if its right... Week 3-4...same ol' pattern continues...I'd be stoked to have temps end up slightly AN over here with plenty precip chances...

  28. It appears the storms are taking the southern route tonight. Omaha and Lincoln may just get a general rain shield while the storms dive into Kansas.

  35. Looks like the max winds speeds today are the narrows 47mph...Paine field 43mph...Camano island 50mph...whidbey island 44mph. Pretty decent wind for this time of year.

  36. What a miserable weather day. Temp has literally been in the 40s all afternoon and it hasn't stopped raining since it started early this morning. No thunder or lightning at all.

  41. It is exceedingly rare for the first 3 weeks of June to be warm and dry around here. Technically that did not even happen in 2015... the first 4 days of June were cool and troughy that month and it rained here each day. And then not again until the last day of the month. I just ran through the 500mb map for the summer of 2013... in late June that year we got into a pattern with a trough just offshore. This ended up being quite warm around here. Could you be seeing a troughy pattern that ends up like this? I wonder if there will a large SW ridge this summer due to drought feedback.

  42. I think Sea has locked in the coldest May since 2012. Which to be honest hasn’t felt like it. Must be due to clearer nights and no major heatwaves.

  44. A nice drive back on HWY 20 today. Back home and it appears we have had some rain! My driveway had a small washout that happens when it rains very hard so I must have missed that...Darn. According to my weather station we have had .90” so far on the week, 1.90” for the month, and 24.65” ytd. Currently cloudy and 53.
