  1. Got right at 9 inches. Great storm, the snowfall rates were way higher than I was expecting last night. It was very enjoyable to watch come down.

  2. Snowfall totals from around the area, I found myself in the perfect spot. The March sun is already going to work on the roads and current temp is 29.

  3. Well if we flood again I can quickly dig a trench and if we have a January 1950 redux I can dig our way out! Nice day!

  4. Officially Topeka had 4.5" (but in my area 5-6" was common, I had about 5.75"). 4.4" fell on Mar 10. That broke a record for the date. The previous record was 2.7" in 1943.

  5. As much as I like snow, the short days during the core of snow season get tiresome. I’m already enjoying the longer days.

  6. @Tom WOW! Great call on the first half of March coming in like a lion, (and quite wintry) few days late but it showed up. Great run here in KC on (2) winter events in the first 10 days. Great moisture too, we needed it. Yesterday was interesting in KC, woke up at 5am to everything coated with snow, radar looked healthy to my west. However, the snow never really got heavy and as the day wore on, the accumulations were slow. 21 degrees most of the day, the snow accumulated on all paved surfaces earlier in the day and by 10:30, it had melted everywhere. The road temps had warmed up to 33-37, even with a 21 degree air temperature. The ole March sun angle played a huge role for period of time yesterday. Once 4:00 pm hit, the sun angle went down and the snow immediately started accumulating again. Then, the beautiful stationary band formed right over the city around 6:30 pm, central and south side saw the most. I finished with 3.6 inches of snow but I think it snowed 6 inches worth. KCI only came in at 2.6 inches. I have a total of 21.3 inches for mby this winter season which is officially above average for the winter. The GFS, once again for KC, called this storm right. We have had 7 winter events in KC, the GFS has pegged 5 of them this season, not too bad. Beautiful winter scene yet again here in KC. I love it, but, I'm ready for some spring weather to return. Clinton, you lucky dogggg...I saw radar last night and said, jack pot!!!

  10. It would be nice to actually record a thunderstorm this spring. Last year sucked. We had our hottest weather ever and still couldn't even score a single convective event anywhere around it.

  11. Nice looking trough at the end of the Euro reminds me of something we’d see in the spring in the 2008-12 period

  12. Runs not done but the euro has a pretty chilly trough late in the run. Lowland snow falls at very suspect temps but still a good mountain snow pattern.

  13. I love all the seasons here…but I really like spring. It’s always exciting seeing the days get longer and warmer. I’m also a big fan of warm mild rain which we usually get a good amount of in the warm season. Of course by late July I’m ready for fall/winter and snow and cold prospects.

  14. Hell yes. Sunset on Sunday is 7:45pm here.

  15. Soaring into the mid-60s here today. Could be snowing w/ 50mph gusts in 18hrs. Gotta love spring.

  16. Spring will be on hold for a day or two That's about half of my total snowfall up to this point in one March snow.

  17. Congrats on another good snow down in Missouri. I was watching the radar loop late last night and the heavy band just kept training over you (Clinton). I figured your total would be pretty high. You've had quite the second half of winter. Through mid-winter I had 16" and you had 0" I think. Now you may end up with a higher season total.

  18. I hope it rains every f****** weekend from now until mid September.

  21. In Austin right now and it's upper 30s at peak heating. El Paso was seeing heavy snow earlier today. Places like Little Rock and Memphis will see a nice little dump tonight. Impressive air mass for this time of year.

  22. Yeah…bigger diurnal ranges and thunderstorms are cool. Everything comes to life is a fun part of spring. I also like the seasonal daylight extremes we get here at this latitude. Late june is super cool getting roughly 16 hours of daylight.

  23. Seems like i am always ready for the next season right around the time it starts to arrive spring is nice because day to day temps can be more dynamic plus added solar energy makes heavy downpours/hail/etc more likely under cold troughs also really like when the plants come to life in a few weeks and there’s that sweet smell outside but it’s hard to choose any one season as the best they all have something nice to offer

  24. About 1.5 for me. more than I expected. Everything is covered and should be through Saturday. Might be the last grasp of winter so I'll enjoy it until warmer weather arrives.

  25. Almost time to change my signature to warm season stats. Definitely looking forward to longer brighter days…and more weather variety.

  31. Currently 13°F, looks like our high will either be this or a degree or two higher. Temps only go up from here... After one last subzero night tonight, that is.

  32. Less snow here, but the pressure surge riding down the Appalachians should make for some nice snowglobe conditions tomorrow.

  34. 3yrs ago today my solar lights were getting full charges again with the more powerful March sun, but I still had a thick snow cover! That was day 36 with solid snow cover!

  35. Lol, NAM gonna NAM. Not the first time that glitch has shown up in that region. Still, even the globals bring it into the 920mb range out in the NATL. A nuke.

  36. A thin layer of sleet can serve as an excellent foundation for future snow accumulations if ground temps are warm. It doesn’t melt or sublimate as easily as snow. If you’re sleet now then you’ll probably changeover to all snow within the next hour.
    2 points
  37. 34 and sleet. I think some flakes mixed in but not sticking. Could definitely hear something graupel like falling. It was almost 60 at 6:30.

  38. Winds got crazy all of a sudden. Still feels almost warm but I guess the temp will sharply drop as we get later into the evening.

  39. They blew a good deal of their forecast. Not a drop or flake. Extremely windy today and cold. We’ll drop to 26* tonight. Most likely our last really cold night. Mid 50’s tomorrow and moving up to mid 70’s by Monday. Hang in there. Spring is on the way. You’ll be forecasting severe weather in no time.

  43. I posted this before... but most of the last 500 million years has been much warmer than it is now. Warmth won't hurt the Earth and climate change is definitely a constant.

  44. Hey all, checked out some model homes down here in Estrella today. Things are in motion at this point. Meanwhile, played golf yesterday with my old man and randomly got paired with a twosome that featured Eagles legendary Linebacker Seth Joyner. My dad, being from Philly, was giddy. Weather hasn't been too bad either, but not quite warm enough to go to the pools.
