  1. I had a picnic with my friends from yesterday's night till today's morning in Sawda Natheel region of far southern Qatar near the Saudi border. Enjoy! ٢٠٢٦٠٦٠٥_٠٥٠٦٥٢.mp4

  4. Beautiful evening in Everett. Puffy and heavy clouds. Golden hour extra golden. Breezy. 57º. Listening to Polo and Pan while building a weather sandbox for my final interview. It's a nice evening.

  5. Shift west continued on 18z. I think we have a heat wave, but will be spared a diabolical one. More just run of the mill. Good by me.

  7. I mean it’s still far out enough that it might not even be a heatwave still talking like almost 10 days.

  11. My thinking right now, in terms of peak temp probabilites at KSEA; adjusting EPS mean to climo, given the timing over a week out: 80F: 95% 85F: 80% 90F: 60% 95F: 25% 100F: 10%

  17. I got 0.94" of rain overnight into the this morning, with no lightning/thunder. The widespread heavy rain didn't really pan out, but I was fortunate to get something decent. A lot of areas to my east and south got very little. Models have been advertising a Friday night event, but now it appears that will be south of me.

  18. 90F+ is great when you can get occasional/consistent relief. But not for me when I wear 25+lbs of gear/duty belt and a ballistic vest. That type of weather sucks.

  19. I had a quick monsoonal like thunderstorm this afternoon that dropped .20 inches. More rain in the forecast through Tuesday.

  20. A whopping .03" here so far today. Some of that came in a very heavy, but very brief, downpour.

  24. A good example of why one should pay more attention to the ensemble mean than the operational.

  25. Still some dawgs in there, but yeah, let's hope the wider spread means it's sniffing out some cooler solutions. After a very warm, dry winter, just a normal-ish summer with no sustained extreme heat would be great. I know 1954 is off the table, but I'd settle for 2019 at this point.

  26. The 12z Euro AI was a cool outlier, but there was a definite shift cooler in its ensemble. Lower mean, higher spread, and a new camp of members that want to pinch off the ridge offshore instead of instigating a major heatwave. Importantly though, the largest cluster of members still involve a significant heatwave with 850's more than 10C above normal. Duration looks the same as before.

  27. We were due for a stretch of snow duds down here of more than a sloppy overnight inch on grass. Depressing but it's the new normal. But even the mountains are now gettin' the shaft...demoralizing.

  30. I'd be shocked if it isn't the coldest outlier. The 6z ensemble and OP were a raging torch.

  31. Going to be so hyper it’s going to reverse the normal for a Nino and we are going to get buried like Juneau did last winter. ITS COMING!

  39. Meh, we need to cool it on that comparison. It isn’t really close yet. If it keeps amplifying as we approach, maybe. But for now, a hot heatwave. Next weekend has been the target for over a week now on ensembles.
