  2. Helping some folks out through New Hope church. it’s a program called Neighbor to Neighbor. I love it and a cool way to give back in our world although I think I receive much more from the experience. Meet lots a people this way as well. Yesterday the gal we helped brought out lemonade and undercooked brownies ( gooey and yummy ). Lol, I came to enjoy the John Deer tractor visiting me as it brought gifts !!! Blessed to be able to do this as well. I will be hitting the road soon for a storm chasing adventure though!!!!

  4. Amazing day today, took advantage of the last decent day of weather for a while to abuse my body and mentally prepare myself for our Denali expedition starting mid may. Did a double hitter of south sister and broken top via the 3 o'clock couloir which made for a nice 27 miler with 9300ft of gain, all while carrying a 70lb backpack to prepare for the 130lb backpack/sled duo that I'll have to carry on Denali. At this rate, I'll probably be crippled by the time I'm 70.

  5. Finally got back from my big retirement/eclipse trip last night, feels great and weird to be retired now! Worked my a*s off from my mid 20s-low 50s, and the last few years I've been working some because I can and not because I need to, but now it's time to relax and retire. And now I have a lot of time for model riding! Got to see a lot of beautiful redrock canyons and snowy mountains in Utah/Wyoming on this trip. We had pretty great weather the whole time, only got hit by a storm while we were in Wyoming, and saw some epic thunderstorms the night following the eclipse.

  7. About 4” of snow when I measured and it had settled a bit when I did. Pushes me over 4’ for total seasonal snowfall.

  8. Yeah my brain implant RNS stimulator cyberware that I have works ok but it's not enough without lamotrigene. The operation to put in this experimental RNS was over $120k in total costs so I'm very grateful for all that being approved. Tho it was kinda me just agreeing to be a guinea pig for the operations. I scan my brainwaves and send the data in regularly so they can see how I have seizures up to like 15 a minute at times. Thousands weekly. Without lamotrigene, which costs like $500+ a bottle out of pocket, is simply not worth it. I'll just let my body fail instead if that's what it comes to. I'm grateful that my family lives in the tiny flat we have because so many people don't have that. The ones that walk in our alleyway at night...I know our family has it better, even if I can only put some cots in the livingroom for my kids for when they come over. Their mom decided to go her own way cuz she couldn't handle the stress of my seizure episodes along with taking care of 3 young kids. It was unfortunate but I just decided to remain stoic for my kids. My family here, my current wife and her mom are the most incredible people, along with my kids and @MR.SNOWMIZER @SilverFallsAndrew @Phil @Deweydog @TT-SEA @iFred @BLI snowman @Meatyorologist who have helped me get through some of the toughest parts of my life. With my kids coming over this weekend starting tonight, it's gonna be an adventure. I'm sorry if I forgot to mention someone before. Y'all are so very important.

  9. Wish me luck guys. My most important medication, lamotrigene, has still not been approved this time by the insurance company. I have taken this medication since late 2016 and haven't gone without it since a lengthy observation when I was at OHSU back in 2017. Needless to say, I was into status epilepticus when I was there for extended observation without the medication (it's different than clobazam, which is also important but not as much as lamotrigene). Once I took the medication it was a lot better. I still have lots of seizures but most of them are small and manageable. Some are shittier and I have to get down on the floor when I feel them coming on but those are rare. Without this medication, there is a pretty decent possibility of me slipping into status epilepticus and ending up in the hospital soon. My neurologist said that once it gets bad enough that I need to go into the hospital and they can maybe make it urgent enough to get a temporary supply. I'll try to have y'all stay updated but for now me and my family are worried. In the meantime, it's 50F and cloudy. If this is the last day where I have proper focus then I'm grateful it was a cool and pleasant one without excessive heat.

  11. Looking forward to going on a vacation in a couple weeks. Hopefully it'll be a lot of fun. My wife and I never got to take a proper honeymoon after getting married in May 2021, so it's finally a trip that just the 2 of us have had the opportunity to take. Headed to New Orleans then down to Costa Maya. Got a pretty good deal on the trip cuz on the last one, I got knocked over by a big door and hit my head on the last cruise I went on, so they gave me a discounted balcony room & $200 in on-board credit, then gave me the casino upgrade so now I've got $600 to use for blackjack. Honestly, super grateful to be able to do things like this because I don't get to very often for a lot of reasons. I often wonder how I would feel when just dropping in and changing over $5k in chips each night and seeing the pit boss's reaction. Those are the ones who get the freebies. Even though I won't ever get to that status in my life, I know I've gotten to experience some awesome shitt and I'm forever grateful for y'all's friendship and to the people that helped put this RNS cyberware on my brain. 44F and clear in downtown Springfield.

  14. Amazing watching this total eclipse, the clouds parted and it was beautiful. Over 4 minutes of totality was awesome, but it still went my so quickly. I won't be posting any pictures here for obvious reasons, but this off the back of the camera shot. Looking at home this AM, it's down to 32...possibly the last freeze of the season.

  15. Surprisingly there's cell signal here, looks like sunriver got some snow! Not much sticking to the pavement but it looks like 3-4" on the grass, plants, ect. Experiencing a much different type of climate right now in Utah.

  16. Sadly this is my view currently… Lamotrigene medication still won’t come thru so I’m in the hospital. Really wish it would get approved. Epilepsy sucks.

  21. Today's Meadows day (#2) Firm to start, then softened up nicely. First time up Vista today, and in my top 4 runs in Oregon (Hoodoo Over Easy and Bachelor Leeway and Wynoga Way to White Bark are the other 3). Whopee should be a blue (final pic) I hate my anxiety (triggered during Whopee) I'm in the hospital for a friend now as he crashed during my last run. At least Meadows has one on site that has our needs (stitches).

  22. I'm somewhere in that photo! Saw the clouds when I woke up this morning and thought it'd make for a great sunrise on tumalo mountain, but unfortunately I got there too late and once I reached the summit the sun had already risen and was in the clouds. Although atleast I got some really nice pics of the surrounding mountains and the skiing was AMAZING

  26. Speaking of seeing America, I visited the ghost town of Picher, OK on the back end of my eclipse trip. Really fascinating story there, with the lead/zinc mining deposits there creating an environmental catastrophe, and then sadly a devastating EF-4 tornado in 2008 pretty much finished them off. You can still see the giant chat piles from the road hanging over most of the former building sites.

  27. Before, during, and after. Phone definitely didn't come close to doing it justice. In Gilbert we had just over three minutes of totality. The stillness of the air as the sun got swallowed up had such a serene quality to it, perforated only with the chatter of crickets as they started singing their evening song. Majestic experience!

  30. Today is the anniversary (52 years) since the F3 Vancouver Tornado, the strongest tornado west of the Cascades. This video from about a year ago goes into what caused the tornado to form, the extent of the damages, and why the Northwest tends to dodge tornadoes. Some of you may have seen this, but for those who haven't I would reccomend watching this (15 min long).

  35. Saw the 2017 eclipse in Madras and I thought it was incredible. Witnessing the shadow of the moon slowly move over the landscape, passing over Mt Jefferson before it got to us was wild. And obviously the darkness has a different quality and is much deeper than any sort of cloudiness could create. Stars come out, the temperature drops noticeably, birds get confused, the sky turns all sorts of interesting colors, almost like a continuous ring of sunrises/sunsets around the entire horizon. I wasn’t expecting that part and it really impressed me.Then of course the spectacle itself of the moon gradually encroaching upon then obscuring the disc of the sun is breathtaking. The sight of that coronal glow surrounding a sphere of pitch darkness is something else. That said, I feel BLESSED to have already seen one, and I’m not going to go on too much of a mad scramble just for the bragging rights of having seen other. If we see it again I will be thrilled, if not this is still a cool trip to a new area of the country.

  43. That much is obvious. He obsesses over it all the time... transplants and other BS. And guilty conscious? Hardly. My wife and I left MN with $2,000 in the bank and an old Pontiac. She put herself through college by signing up to be a nurse in the Navy which is why went to San Diego after college. I paid for my own college by working every weekend. 2 years after leaving MN we bought our first house in San Diego. I was obsessed with the weather when I was 3 years old. Walking around the backyard in the snow and narrating my own forecasts. By 5... I could free-hand draw the map of the US which I would use in my forecasts I presented to my parents. I was born being fascinated with the weather.
