January Weather In The PNW 2024 (Part III) - The Warming Shot
rsktkr replied to iFred's topic in West of the Rockies
Looks like this ice storm might be slightly pulling apart as it moves inland. Windy_ Satellite.mp4 -
Now that the rug pull is complete how about some good news...spring training is right around the corner!!!

PNW January 2023 Observations and Discussion
rsktkr replied to Requiem's topic in West of the Rockies
I live in McMinnville. We have had exactly 0.00" of snow this year. It was a bit cooler than normal for a few days back in December. WTF? I can't think of a single positive thing to say about this absolute dud of a winter. In my book this is the most boring winter of any since I moved here ten years ago. Just let it end. I know some jack@ss is going to either point out the realities of the region we live in, tell me to move, or point out some other winter that was somehow worse. Don't be that jack@a**. I am just venting as I shift my mindset to spring.- 9819 replies

Bummer that even if we get a great setup in the coming weeks there will be virtually no real cold air to work with. I give a February surprise about a 3% chance this year. This winter is starting to feel real short and real done. The great news though....spring training is right around the corner! Go Giants! -

"rug push" is an awesome description. Should become a permanent thing around here when we get a reverse rug pull. It won't be used often of course but still.

Thrill of the chase.

Did you notice how fast things flipped from all-time most epic arctic blast to 50 degree rain? Things can flip back just as fast.

I hope the sting of another arctic rug pull diminishes quickly and you model guys start posting about whatever weather we do have coming because I am really starting to appreciate it all....not just cold and snow.

Either way, nature is awesome!

Rational talk needs a break but posting non stop about things that absolutely are not going to happen doesn't? -

"uncertainty is off the charts" is code for bust. It's OK to say it. A massive percent of what shows up in models beyond 48 hours busts. This one is a bust. The next one will be a bust. The one after that will be a bust. Maybe one will not bust before spring but that will be about it for this winter. We live in that type of climate. It's better to just know this. -

I have no idea what's going on in here today and at this point I'm afraid to ask. -

I used to have that but someone taught me how to see the beauty in all of nature and now I enjoy it all. I still have my preferences of course but I appreciate so much more about the weather and all the changes that come with it. -

Why can't all comments/replies be this logic based? It would eliminate the emotional rollercoaster and make for a more enjoyable experience for all. Thanks for leading the way! -

This is the interesting stuff I come here for! Thank you! Now if we could somehow convince people to stop posting those 10:1 ratio snow maps. I have no idea what purpose those serve....maybe I'm missing something?
