  1. Here's my attempt at ChatGPT to explain why it's hard to get snow in Seattle. D**n I wish I had this when was doing technical writing. Haha Multiple reasons inhibit snow accumulation in the Seattle, Washington area, they are as follows; Seattle is located near the Pacific Ocean, and the ocean has a moderating effect on the city's climate. The ocean tends to regulate temperatures, preventing extreme cold conditions that are necessary for snow formation. Seattle has a maritime climate, characterized by relatively mild temperatures throughout the year. Maritime climates are less prone to extreme temperature fluctuations compared to continental climates, where snowfall is more common. The presence of the Cascade Range to the east of Seattle plays a significant role. When moist air from the Pacific Ocean moves eastward, it is forced to rise over the mountains. As the air rises, it cools and releases moisture in the form of rain on the western side of the mountains. By the time the air descends on the eastern side (where Seattle is located), it has lost much of its moisture, creating a rain shadow. This rain shadow effect reduces the likelihood of significant snowfall in Seattle. While Seattle does experience cold temperatures during the winter, the cold snaps are often short-lived. For snow to accumulate, sustained cold temperatures are necessary, and these conditions are less common in Seattle compared to regions with a continental climate. In summary, Seattle's proximity to the Pacific Ocean, its maritime climate, the rain shadow effect from the Cascade Range, and infrequent cold snaps collectively make it challenging for the city to experience significant snowfall.
  2. I myself don't require huge amounts of snow, but I do love to watch it fall in the daytime. What I don't like is dry cold without snow. At least give me enough so it can last a couple or three days in the dry cold without complete sublimation. Don't get me wrong, I'll gladly take a foot of snow. I just don't appreciate cold that much without some snow on the ground
  3. My mom in KC, Mo. is used to it. My son is about an hour north of Denver though. He lived in Anchorage for two years, but this will be new. He grew in in Huntington Beach.
  4. Dude, what do you expect the forum to do? You get major patience and understanding on here but tone down the woe is me sometimes, OK? Sometimes you have to buck and not try to bring everyone else down. Especially before we know what the F is going to happen anyway! Patience and gratitude for what you got. Just my thoughts.
  5. I like that kind of padding. (Sorry Portlandians and Portlanders, whichever you identify with)
  6. Nothing but gut to base this on, but I feel that there may be fun model riding Saturday night in store for us. I don't this this ship has sailed yet.
