  1. Rapid develp. of a cell just N of Mt Rainier right now. Meso data is looking good Li's esp. around the Willamette valley are -7C right now and CAPE in that same area is over 2000J/Kg BK shear is on the order of 40 kts over SW Wa and extreme NW Ore. I would expect further develp. as the night progresses
  2. Nice vort max Tuesday and CAPE values continue to increase along with LI's, the biggest contributing factor I am seeing is BK shear in excess of 60kts overnight Monday into Tuesday. SREF Cape model looks decent http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/sref/sref.php?run=latest&id=SREF_prob_hicape_500__ Interesting to note that best parameters and CAPE is after sunset both Monday/Tuesday 00Z sounding shows some suspect convection into Wednesday as well, not sure I believe that though.
  3. WRF still sticking with high CAPE and Li's starting tomorrow onward. Looks to be high based again
  4. I was just going to post about this, the PDX metro area has the highest values esp. Monday aft./eve with values at or above 2200-2400 J/Kg This will be fun to watch
  5. And people wonder why more professional mets and new members aren't joining? I could point out the obvious but wont. Just biding my time until T-storm season arrives and then I'll post some more.

  8. In regards to the slide just east of Oso, a buddy of mine is a member of King County SAR and he has been up there the last two days and sent me an e-mail earlier that stated the following. " Hey man, just wanted to tell you that this is the worst scene I have ever witnessed in my SAR career, it is very bad here and likely to get worse " From what I am seeing on tv, I can totally grasp where he is coming from. Very sad all around
  9. River gauge for Stillaguamish is just 2 inches downstream of blocking mudslide Flash Flood Watch has been issued for areas downstream, potential for huge damage if dam caused by slide breaks
  10. Flood Warning just issued for N. Fork of Stillaguamish river due to massive mudslide just east of Oso 2 people have died ( confirmed ) so far in this mudslide which stretches for almost 2 miles according to Snohomish county EMS scanner

  12. Was on my way to work this morning DT sitting at a red light @ Denny and Broad facing east and saw the helo lift up, rotate counterclockwise then nose dive and crash landing on it's side. I'm still shaky from having witnessed that, my thoughts and prayers go out to KOMO
