  1. Good morning from Winthrop. Ended up with 1.5 to 2 inches near the cabin. Gorgeous morning with blue skies and sun. Fun driving conditions too
  2. Merry Christmas from Winthrop. Just over half an inch this evening. Hoping for a bit more in the next few hours. It's not much but I'll enjoy it.
  3. Update from the Winthrop webcam this morning versus yesterday! 1698243682.mp4 1698171689480_D03F270F6E3C131698171688.mp4 1698166938424_D03F270F6E3C131698166938.mp4
  4. The significant damage is to the house next door to ours. It's uninhabitable right now with the roof penetration and broken skylight. We might have some minor damage to a gutter and maybe roof but don't know until get up there and inspect it.
  5. The wind storm in Sandy, Oregon was no joke. We have a property there and our tenants sent these pictures. Our house might have some minor damage but won't know until tree is removed tomorrow. The neighbor was home when the tree fell on it but was uninjured thankfully.
  6. Just unloaded at the cabin and first beer is chilling! Pliny the Elder from Russian River Brewery. Unfortunately the youngest puked in the back seat of the truck as we were pulling in. Fire is lit in the wood stove and getting ready to relax. Snowing moderately with 26 inches on the patio. I'll go measure a few other locations tomorrow on the property. Low temp was negative 23 on 12/22. The weather station by the window shows the low temp inside by the window was 50. I keep the floor heat set at 55 so not bad.
  7. That's a long stretch. Do you share the maintenance with anyone? That would help on the cost.
  8. I'll be at my place that week with my family. Have you looked into having it plowed. I use Cascade Concrete and they only charge me about $50 a plow for a driveway that's 250 feet or so. I have them plow ever 7 inches. Typically I pay about $350 or so every plow season. This year will be a bit more.
  9. I have a station there but not connected to the internet. I'll. Check on Monday and report back what the all time low is. This will definitely set it. I am 1 mile from that station that looks to be located at twin lakes. I was skeptical too, but a couple other stations in the area are currently reporting at least minus 20. I just checked with a neighbor that is three lots over from me and she said it's currently minus 21 and the high was minus 8. Another neighbor just texted and reported minus 13 but he's on a hill up off the valley floor, that might make a difference. Looks to be a lot of variability over a small area when scanning the stations in the area. Is that fairly common? I'm a weather novice.
  10. Love the wood stove. The one disagreement with my wife when building the house. She wanted gas, but finally gave in and now she wouldn't trade it for gas m
  11. Unbelievable how cold it is in the Methow. The weather station closest to the cabin at twin lakes, below sun mountain lodge showing minus 29. Also interesting how much variability between stations so close together. Frost line depths being put to the test, but over 2 feet of snow helps insulate the ground.
  12. I run my whole house on 2k Honda. Only thing I can't run is the clothes dryer.
  13. Quick question. Is there a place where I can get all the historical daily snowfall data for Winthrop and download in .csv form? I'm familiar with this site https://www.weather.gov/wrh/climate?wfo=otx But the best filter there was maximum daily snowfall by calendar day / month. So if the same day had huge snowfall in different years it only shows the year with the highest. Maybe I'm just running the report incorrectly. Looks like January 21st, 1935 is the highest day ever at 52 inches. Hard to actually believe that's accurate. Higher than any days in Mazama, but Mazama maybe didn't have a weather station in 1935
  14. Mentally preparing for my monthly lake jump this afternoon with a few neighbors. Current surface temp of water is 39.9°
  15. Another Finance/ Accounting/ Tax guy here... Excel, Alteryx and tax specific software
  16. Another Maple Valley Covington post. We're on Pipe Lake. Fun to get some snow here.
  17. Yes but have to drive home tonight.. Lol. Up to 8 inches and still puking snow!
  18. Firewood stacked! Time for football and enjoying the snow! 5 inches as of 9:30 this morning.
  19. This started as a dream. We bought the property in 2012 and camped on it for four years. House was completed in spring 2016. Sacrificed retirement by a couple years but get to enjoy with family and friends while my kids are still young. They're 11 and 9 and don't remember not coming here. Hope to pass it on to them once I'm gone. Life to me is all about creating memories and building relationships.
  20. The best! East 20 Pizza and Old School House Brewery both in Winthrop and 10 to 15 minutes from the cabin. The Pizza place has the beer on tap so just one stop. I'll enjoy a night without the kids or wife and stay well hydrated while I await the snow storm tomorrow
  21. Indeed. East 20 Pizza is the best. And Old School House Brewery for beer. The Pizza place has it on tap, so one stop for both
  22. Made it to the cabin. Fire is stoked, beer, pizza, ready for the snow storm tomorrow. 10 to 16 inches forecast for Winthrop. Lot of friends thought I was crazy to drive over from the west side for one night but I wanted to be here for the first big snow fall. Going to watch football tomorrow and enjoy the day and head home after dinner.
