  1. It would take several systems to scour out PDX as every storm would pull in more bitter low level cold. Maybe the ridge could trend stronger? We just need that ridge connection, and also if the Aleutian ridge merged that big block would be back in play. Really need the EPS to be similar.
  2. 850s PDX -14c, The Dalles -22c. It's a dry run as the arctic air is focused a bit further east, but the low level cold with east winds will keep PDX in the freezer. Then we wait for moisture.
  3. We need that strong ridge merge/connection with the high pressure cell over the arctic.
  4. Day 5 - ECMWF, GEM, GFS .... Same issues weakening ridge, less amplitude. Dang it.
  5. Euro has far weaker energy along the Aleutians and the ridge is stronger, better amplitude.
  6. Hi-res view of that compact mesolow. Very impressive! This may produce some strong winds later.
  7. The only model tonight to give us any hope so far. The trends on the GFS, GEFS and GEM are horrid(for Oregon).
  8. Not good trends. Not even a little. 80% chance this falls apart. Realistic. Go Euro!
