  1. That’s a poster above the bed pic for Shawnigan if I’ve ever seen one
  2. Looks like 38 at PDX this morning. 34 for VUO. Both beat yesterday’s lows by a degree. Not bad!
  3. 54 degrees and sunny now. Another beautiful morning, and even easier to enjoy with something besides endless sun and warmth in the forecast at the moment.
  4. Too bad random model runs can’t end drought. It takes actual rain!
  5. Nice to see widespread lows in the 30s again this morning. PDX decoupled more quickly and actually got a degree or two colder than last night it appears. Low of 36 here with some light frost but not as much as yesterday. Still impressive to see frost on back to back mornings this late.
  6. The fact that those are the two analogs you remember most readily for that sort of thing says more about the sad state of our climate than it does anything. 2019 actually had a top tier warm and dry May and an averagish June followed by a reasonable if not mild summer. 2022 had a coolish and wettish May followed by an averagish June, after which we descended directly into summer hellfire and didn’t look back until November. They’re getting pretty ancient now, but a couple better examples of a classic cool and wet May/June would be 2010 and 2012.
  7. I’m afraid to hope Andrew. Do you know any priests whose counsel I could seek?
  8. Does Mark’s latest 7-Day have anything to say about this?
  9. Gorgeous day here. Morning frost then afternoon sunshine with a cool breeze, reasonable temps and some decorative puffy clouds around. 64/34 spread.
  10. Could be some sort of pattern change afoot. Would be nice. Still too early to say though.
  11. Never underestimate the crapulence of that station.
  12. I know it’s been said, but what an absolutely gorgeous spring morning out there.
  13. Cool. We actually sort of agree on something. Although I like it even better when there’s a dusting of snow up high in addition to the fall colors, which also can happen in September or October.
  14. Let’s hope so. Only one below normal month in the past year now, raging Jesse patterns notwithstanding. We’re due.
  15. Looks like they started working again in the last few hours. PDX had a few 39s but I’m guessing they were counterfeit and the low will hold at 40.
  16. I used to love September around here too. The heat of summer starts to fade, nights get cooler, afternoon shadows get longer, those first crisp mornings hit, usually we get our first fall rain event at some point in the month.Or even just an abrupt all day marine layer with drizzle and sudden highs in the 60s. Often get the first really foggy morning at some point the last half of the month. Leaves start to change. Just a lot to like. It’s not as great these days with September being an extension of smoke season more often than not. There have still been some decent ones in recent years, but they are more few and far between than they used to be.
  17. Could have something to do with living in different climate thousands of miles away from yours.
  18. After 8am and there is still frost in the shade. Not too shabby for the latter half of April. Almost surprised this “event” didn’t bring Jim back around.
  19. Sounds like you need to do some exploring outside the city. I bet there are great colors in the Purcells and up toward the Salmo-Priest wilderness.
  20. That was my second thought. The urban core of greater Seattle obviously has more money and resources at their disposal compared to the hinterlands that compose the other 98% of the state, geographically.
  21. With your tastes that really surprises me, since November is hands down the month we get wayyy darker and stormier compared to just a month or two before. I mean I love it, but I would have assumed your favorite was a summer or midwinter month. At any rate I commend you for your versatility!
  22. I’m definitely liking the uptick in precip chances once we get to the last week of the month.
