A little over a week and I will be in Medford. Pretty good chance I find summer there.
-
Side note... the insane traffic over Snoqualmie Pass on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings during the summer with all the RVs and campers and boats seems to indicate there are many people who are fond of "heading east" to sun and heat on the weekends around here. Nothing wrong with that.
Chelan? Where else would people go over there?
Wait I forgot. Tri-Cities!
-
Completely sunny afternoon in the mid-valley with a high headed towards about 80.
-
Sure. Strawman once again.
The normal high temperature in the Snoqualmie Valley is around 76 right now. Normal sounds lovely here right now... which should also be normal there.
The recent highs in the valley in NB:
7/2 - 64
7/3 - 66
7/4 - 70
7/5 - 64
7/6 - 67
We also went from 6/18-24 with this:
6/18 - 63
6/19 - 63
6/20 - 66
6/21 - 66
6/22 - 62
6/23 - 59
6/24 - 66
And then factor in a complete lack of sun on most of those days.
How much rain have you had the past 5 days?
-
Can you please tell me where I ever said the weather down there has been really bad down there? Why do you constantly take my opinion on my weather and apply to areas with very different weather.
Its been unusually persistently dark and gloomy here. But probably not unusually cold thanks to the warm low temperatures.
If it is not raining than who cares?

Willamette Valley stations running about -0.5 departure on the month so far. Oh the humanity!
-
I'm sorry Tim has been stuck in literal hell for the past week, but the weather has been incredibly pleasant down here. A perfect mix of clouds and sun.
-
Beautiful mostly sunny morning here at Winter Hill.
Looking at the GFS it looks like most of the rain will stay north of us over the next couple weeks. Should be cool with some drizzle at times. About perfect.
Went to Waldport on the Oregon Coast yesterday. Was sunny with calm winds.

Less than 12 years to go...
Pax Americana has already ended.
-
Yep. There were some incredible thunderstorms when I worked up there as a fly fishing guide. Most of them were fairly dry too.
That would have been an amazing experience.

We live in a true intellectual dark ages. Mass information available to people without the capacity to process it. Everyone thinking because some piece of information is new to them it is new to humanity.

Alaskan summers are notorious for being smokey. I don't know why anyone is acting like this is new. They have massive wildfires every summer. There was a big National Geographic article a few months back on Alaskan smoke jumpers. They have pretty frequent lightning during the summer, and literally no infrastructure to extinguish small/new blazes.

July record low in Sunriver is 19. September record low is 12.
I remember camping in La Pine in late June 2007 and it got well into the 20s at night. Also stayed in La Pine on August 14, 1999 and there was frost that morning.

A chilly 37 degrees for a low this morning!
10 degrees below average, but the record is 22! from 2001.

Summer is when UHI is most pronounced, and as we have gone over a million times, UHI effects are most pronounced with low temperatures...Still a lot of solar radiation makes it through the clouds to the concrete and asphalt on cloudy summer days. Heat which is then trapped beneath the low cloud deck at night.

Cool July!!!
I'm starting to feel a September 2011 redux could be in the cards.
-
Major ensemble improvement with the 12z.
-
12z GFS looks wet next week.
If this were to verify we would be heading into the latter half of the month below average and with fire season still weeks away.

March 2019 was the coldest on record at John Day, OR.

John Day, OR had their 4th coldest February on record. I love how the Blue Mountain Eagle breaks it down.

June ended up being decently below average over in Grant County. Still haven't even hit 90 yet.

Nice and cloudy again this morning.

For the first time in months, the ENSO3.4 index dipped down into negative territory. This comes weeks following the emergence of an upwelling oceanic Kelvin wave, which pushed into the far eastern Pacific basin. Note: oceanic kelvin wave activity to continue through Fall 2019.
So much for a strong Nino this year...

Still only topped out at 71 here yesterday. The thunder boomers keep putting a cap on things. Haven't been above 75º since the 12th so the second half of this month has been a cool one.
Nothing severe here yesterday... It's looking like the worst of the storms will stay north of Bozeman today fortunately. Looking really bad for areas north of Helena with baseball size hail and tornado's.
