  1. Willamette at Salem now forecast to crest at 27.4'. Pretty amazing it was at 11' last Friday. Without the flood control reservoirs this would have been a monstrous flood.
  2. The rainfall amounts in the valley the next two days shouldn't be all that notable, but looks like another 1.5-2" up here.If I had to guess I think we do break the all-time April rainfall record up here, but not by a lot. The record is 12.79" I bet we end up in the 13-14" range.
  3. The Mariners won 89 games last year which was incredible for a team with a negative run differential. They had the run differential of about a 76-78 win team. Got lucky in a ton of 1 run games during the first half of the year and obviously couldn't sustain that. Their success this year has been a little different. The bats will definitely cool though and that pitching staff is ripe for implosion.
  4. Winter Storm Warning now up for the Blue Mountains of NE Oregon.
  5. Looks like some of the higher Cascades could see 2' of snow over the next couple of days. Looks like more on the way this weekend too.
  6. Interesting to see the Willamette came up a bit higher than expected. The forecast crest had dropped to about 24' at Salem. It is 25.5' this morning and now forecast to crest Friday morning at 26.7'. Looks like the river is hitting moderate flood stage now at Corvallis and is forecast to crest just below the February 1996 level.
  7. Yeah, true...People were enthusiastic about it regardless.
  8. I like how his friend was there on assignment from National Review.
  9. I went to a country music festival a few years ago. I'm not even sure why I went. I tolerate country, but I'm not big on concerts, and my wife hates country music. We both had a terrible time, the campground was full of obnoxious hillbillies (Go figure right?) and except for the headliners the crowd was apathetic/disinterested. I did manage to get a "Hillary for Prison" chant going in the beer garden though...
  10. She even makes her own laundry soap that is supposedly more environmentally friendly. My ex-wife found out when she was visiting last year and said I married a D**n hippie. lol.
  11. I think people love to harken back to those days in their minds because it was such a time of change, but yet things were a little more less scripted (authentic). Now that the music industry is nothing but commercialized this kind of experience literally could not happen again. It may have actually sucked being there, but looking back you would know you were part of something that will never happen again. No concert or music festival today is going to have the kind of cultural impact.
  12. Is it bad that I clearly remember the 25th anniversary of Woodstock.
  13. I'm one of the biggest hippies around, but I've never had the desire to go.
  14. I wonder how unauthentic and commercialized that has become?
  15. I see you are starting to figure out how this place works.
  16. 0.67" today. So, think about this. Oregon and Washington sell the rights to the Columbia Crossing Project and throw in the Glen Jackson bridge. Oregon/Washington could sell the rights for $2-3bn for 20 years. Whoever buys the rights is also responsible for building the new bridge. So you build the new bridge for 3.5bn, you maintain it and the Glen Jackson for 3bn over the next 20 years. And you toll passenger vehicles $5 a bridge trip and $10 for commercial vehicles. Given current bridge traffic (Which would likely increase with improved capacity on the new bridge), you would end up bringing in $12-14bn in revenue. Even after paying for overhead and operations, it is still very profitable. Also with the new light rail capability to Vancouver you can bring in additional revenue by charging Tri-met for the bridges use. Even at a measly 50 cent a ride kickback with 20K average trips a day that is $73m in additional revenue. That probably covers most of the wages for your toll operators. I think this is a great idea...I just thought of it. Think of it though. Not only does Oregon/WA save 5.5bn on construction and maintenance, they can reinvest the sale of the rights in critical infrastructure upgrades in each state. Creating "shovel ready" jobs and safer roads.
  17. I think both were Ninos like this year. Key difference being those years to this point were much warmer.
