Snowing pretty good clip here in Leawood with snow sticking on the grass and now streets. It’s gently fat wet flakes! Can’t wait to see this x100 on Monday!

Can’t wait to go home and see the snow on the ground in Lawrence. Nothing has fallen yet here at state line

That’s the key factor/issue that’s been the main topic this winter is the marginal surface temps. We have seen this issue many times this season so far and will continue to be an issue even as we enter the heart of winter. Hopefully we can find some type of Canadian air this somewhere to produce a good snow but this winter is not playing fair for us snow lovers

From looking at radar one would think it was snowing like crazy but it’s just been light scenery snow for the last 4 hours. None of it is sticking since temps are above freezing and the ground is still warm. We shall see how this pans out after the sun sets

I thought the 540 line was the rain/snow threshold? That’s showing it’s in central ks?

This would be a shock since all my weather apps are showing 50’s this week LOL

It’s so interesting that we are in the middle of December with a large wet storm and there is barely a flake of snow to be found on the radar lol

What happened to the transition to winter after the 10th? People are going to be in shorts in Canada for Christmas

I was just looking at a local weather blog and he mentioned how there is a lack of snow cover across central and southern Canada and how if we do get any polar push into the US it will modify dramatically due to the lack of snow cover to keep temps cold

I’m very surprised with that as well. I can see us being above average in precip but in the snow dept i strongly disagree with that but i guess we shall see in a few months

I agree! Unless the cycling pattern suddenly stops cycling, i don’t see a snowy nor cold winter for many in the Midwest. This winter will be the story of pacific air flooding the country which kills most hopes of a snowy winter. i was looking at the radar last night and even parts of Montana was seeing rain in DECEMBER!!

I keep saying it’s going to be a warm winter with long boring stretches. The type of storms we had this weekend should be a sign of how winter will look (marginal temp profiles and lack of Canadian air)

KC folks enjoy the snow! I’m headed to the sunny beaches of Miami and Dominican Republic tomorrow so I’ll miss out on the first snow of the season

Is anyone going to take a stab at making their winter predictions since we are firmly entrenched in the new LRC and pretty seen how this winter will will/may play out

I’m not too optimistic for weather here in KC. This pattern for the last month has been dry and warm with a cold couple cold shots. Nothing that screams a great winter for us

The heavy band has just passed thru lawrence and we got about a quick .30 in that 30 minutes. looks like after this it might be it for the rest of the night

I know we need the rain but I’m glad it’s moving east as i have some big outdoor events this weekend lined up

Gary says per the LRC that the invest is forecasted per his models to hit the Florida coast per his blog a couple days ago. We shall see how his prediction turns out
