Sounds like the roads in Thurston Co are starting to become an ice rink. -

But the warm road temps will prevent accumula... wait a minute. -

That looks like the classic landing spot for a windstorm to me... just not deep enough. -

I think my house is literally right on the line between light snow and nothing. Hoping we get something. -

Then again, in the GFS' mind this snow falls with temps in the upper teens - low 20s so that ratio is going to be crazy. -

Careful, don't get too excited. Those snow totals are way overdone, the GFS always does that. 6-10" way more realistic on the high end of things. Maybe a foot in a few spots. -

It's 37 currently at the base of Rock Candy Mtn (562 feet) just west of Olympia. Will be watching for some snow there. Winds have calmed considerably but still out of the SW. -

I'm liking where I'm sitting going into this. Just gotta avoid the warm nose. -

Cold and dry when we're covered in a foot of snow followed by half an inch of ZR. Yikes. Could only hope the upper levels don't warm enough to allow for that. -

What I didn't notice is that 10:00 pm Friday night the snow turns over to ZR and we get a half-inch of ice overnight Friday night on top of a foot of snow. That has January 2012 vibes. The same weekend even I think. Did major damage here. -

Oh man. GFS has snow starting here around 4:00 am Friday and lasting throughout the day with temps in the mid-upper 20s. By 10:00 pm it has snowed a foot. Absolute perfection. The things I would do for this to verify. Too bad it warms above freezing by 11:00 Saturday morning. -

This is the same SEA NWS that didn't issue a WSW in Feb. 2019 until I already had 6 inches of snow IMBY. I didn't work here yet, but the under-prediction by the NWS during that event caused the school district I work for to continue with a full day of school instead of closing early or all together. They just barely got the buses back in the yard before it started puking snow around 4 pm or so. I will always respect those mets and I know they are way smarter than me, but they haven't been the same since the Oct. 2016 windstorm bust. -

I was about 5-6 and we lived in a rural part of Olympia, surrounded by trees. I remember my mom taking us to a hotel because she thought trees were going to fall on the house. Nothing hit the house, but we weren't able to get to our house for a couple days due to fallen trees and power lines blocking the only road in. Once we did get in, we didn't have power for at least a week. We were staying with my grandma and I remember my mom would call our house phone every night to see if the power was back on yet. One night, the call went through and we went home. My fish all died because of the power outage and no heat. 6 year old me was not happy. -

I'm 22 and have been lurking since my senior year of high school (2019 event) and posting occasionally since I was around 20. I will say I've learned 1000% more than the information I've been able to provide but that's what is so great about this place. -

I broke down and subscribed to WB. I told myself I wasn't going to do it this winter but I can't not now. Oh well.
