  1. I charged my phone, Kindle, SteamDeck, and extra power brick... so naturally we barely seemed to get a breeze here. At least I got caught up on Doom Patrol!
  2. Charging up all my devices now. As someone who relies on an internet connection to do virtually any work (from home OR office), I wouldn't mind a 5th day in a row off. Definitely been pouring hard here this morning, love that sound on the roof.
  3. We had a big snowfall in Feb 2017, where the Cougar Mountain area got 12"+, depending on elevation. I hiked up to the Sky Country trailhead of the Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park (just a couple miles from my parents' place), where the snow depth was up to my knee, and stayed for about 10 minutes before I noped out. Just constant branches and trees coming down. Eventually I had to jump out of the way of a falling branch, and that was it for me.
  4. I've seen quite a few videos already of people doing it! Seems like it's going pretty well (though I'd definitely take my skates right in for a sharpening afterwards)
  5. I am super jealous! I was looking longingly at my hockey skates this morning, but I don't have an area of ice big enough - there's too much slush in our parking lot. I could do some stickhandling practice along the edges, though!
  6. Haven't lost power here in Redmond at all, just flickers last night! I did venture out to the package lockers at the front of my apartment complex a little bit ago to get a package, and it was definitely hairy. The stairs down from my front door are solid ice, as are the sidewalks, and the edges of the parking lot road. The center of the road was slush, so I walked there, but I had a lot of trouble walking up to the package locker - I actually had to grab it and pull myself towards it, because there was a very slight incline (maybe 1-2% grade) and I couldn't get enough traction to get up it. And right there was USPS, delivering packages, living up to their motto. I definitely made sure to thank the postman, and wish him well.
  7. First flicker of lights here - I think that's my cue to shut down. Stay safe, everyone!
  8. Got home from hockey in Snoqualmie about 10:30 pm. Didn't see any precip at all between Snoqualmie and Redmond, but the wind was REALLY whipping when I came out of the rink. No precip here in Redmond at the moment, but definitely windy. I'm starting the process of unplugging electronics.
  9. NWS updated their timeline graphic!
  10. Glad to hear this... last night of hockey camp is tonight. Got to make it through the end of the session in Snoqualmie at 9pm and back home, and then it can do what it will!
  11. I think this may be one of the rare cases where this is actually a big problem here!
  12. WSDOT has already made the call to keep the Express Lanes soundbound at least until tomorrow morning:
  13. It's already almost 11am, and we're only at 21 here in lowland Redmond.
  14. Snoqualmie, too. Just got home from playing hockey a little while ago. When I went into the rink, the winds were calm. When I left around 10:15, it was really whippin'.
  15. Just ventured out to go load up on supplies - if we do get hit with storm-related outages, I wanted to make sure I had my prescriptions already filled, and fire logs and quick-and-easy food on hand. I was actually shocked that Target still had Duraflame logs/starters left, with this cold, I would have thought those would have been cleaned out long ago. The road into my apartment complex is a solid sheet of ice. Going VERY slow, and gently easing on the brakes - I still slid. Hopefully no one misjudges that and slides into the intersection with the arterial road. (Thankfully there is a second entrance/exit that is much more clear!) The roads themselves are actually pretty clear, it's mainly the shoulders and turning lanes that are iced over (since they're not being used as often). Got the email that hockey in Snoqualmie is back on tonight. I think I'm going to attempt it, since it's pretty much well-traveled roads most of the way there, that should be pretty clear. Fingers crossed! (I have a feeling that the make-up session scheduled tomorrow may not happen, so I want to get my skating in today...)
  16. It's convenient that the ice storm on the way already has a couple of holidays to name it after! As is tradition.
  17. Local news is starting to sound the alarm in Seattle:
  18. Yep, that was the one where the mayor of Seattle essentially lost his job over the fiasco!
  19. I grew up near there, and I cannot comprehend why they would even try. There is no way out of there without STEEP hills. Forest Drive is like a 15% grade downhill, with curves, that goes right up to a stop light on a busy intersection (Coal Creek Pkwy). You're not getting out of the neighborhood, just stay home.
  20. Just got the email from the rink, no hockey class in Snoqualmie tonight. They already have a contingency plan for if they have to cancel tomorrow, too. As much as I want to skate, glad they are making that call.
  21. I ask only that I be remembered fondly, while I am drinking margaritas in 60-70 degree sunny weather.
  22. But that's when I'm going to Disney World.
  23. What accumulated last night is melting here, fast. A lot of it has disappeared just in the last hour I've been up. BUT the temperature is finally dropping again... down to 33 here - BRING IT!
