  1. This definitely has 12/20/22 vibes based on my location in North Seattle, though it seems more likely this will start as ZR as opposed to the snow we got that time. I'm consistently in the very lightest gray on the models that show snow for PS, and I know all too well that will likely mean a rain/snow line straddling my house when I watch the radar in real time.
  2. Flakage but no stickage IMBY (Ballard/N. Seattle). The roads & sidewalks are damp though, so depending on when this front moves in it could make for an icy commute this evening. Glad I'm WFH today.
  3. Yep definitely some of the biggest flakes I’ve seen. Seems to be all snow now! Already sticking to some surfaces
  4. Chunky flakes here north of Ballard too! Sounds like rain drops still mixed in though
  5. Yep you really have to let your eyes adjust against the lights but flakes are falling here. Never rained, just right to snow. Gusty winds for sure too!
  6. Yeah I was thinking if this system were coming through on a work/school night they might be a bit more cautious in warnings/amounts. None of the forecasting apps seem to be picking up anything notable for Mon/Tues in the Sound though, whereas this system has predicted 1-3 inches for a few days now.
  7. Cloud cover seems more saturated now north of Seattle. I still see peeks of blue sky to our south around interbay but just clouds and more clouds to the north. Doubtful we will see any more uptick in the temp.
  8. So strange - basically showing half an inch accumulation tonight for a pretty wide swath of the sound (Says the same for me in north Seattle). Yet they also drop a WWA for up to 2” in the same areas. Suppose a lot has to do with the forecasted low of 35, which seems high. Hope these temps stay at bay. Looks like we just crested 40 here. I’ll take those WRF maps posted earlier for tonight’s event please
  9. Just noticed light flurries here too! Radar definitely filling in over the Seattle metro area. Here we go!
  10. As a noob to freezing rain events, is it better or worse to have a few inches of snow first? On the one hand, it adds weight to branches and structures, but on the other it seems like it would at least allow for better traction on roads and surfaces since it won’t just be glazed pavement.
  11. Darker green patches are right over me on that return but I don't have any visible precip. Definitely darkening clouds though.
  12. Yeah that just went right over me. Definitely the fluffier bigger flakes that start the accumulations even on pavement.
  13. The masses seem to have caught on, major lines when I stopped for an errand at Fred Meyer. But at the same time a few of my coworkers were saying “see you tomorrow” as if nothing unusual was coming our way. Forecast totals have ticked up to 7” for my area now through the apps.
  14. We are on the fringes of that band moving through Redmond. Lightly snaining for us.
  15. Dumping snow a few minutes ago. Feel like we are at the point where the remnant bald slushy spots on the pavement will start filling in if it keeps up. Up to about 1.5” on non-pavement. A little discouraged by some of the spots switching back to rain, esp since they are higher elevation.
  16. Sticking to surfaces now in Loyal Heights. This is almost deja vu from Tuesday (to the minute) but hopefully snow holds on for longer!
  17. Love watching this transition in real time. Heavy drops and splats to near silence. More snow than rain here, and our forecast also went from all rain to 3”+. Just needs to drop a degree or two.
  18. Yeah I noticed my forecast changed from 6 hours of snow with 2” to all rain, even with 33-34 degree temps remaining. Boo.
  19. Nice surprise to wake up to! Seattle now under a WWA as well for up to 2 inches - Funnily enough it’s supposed to be between 10 am today and 10 am tomorrow, so it doesn’t even “advise” on what’s going on right now.
  20. After declaring the performance of the WRF model a "Triumph", wonder how long until Cliff bites on this latest forecast map? Pretty significant totals being thrown for metro Seattle.
  21. Yes! Please verify! We got a little lucky with more than expected Tuesday but rare that my neck of the woods is targeted for the most snow in the Seattle metro region. Flurries continue...
