  1. Checking some webcame real quick. Beautiful out there. BELLINGHAM is sunny with a bit of wildfire smoke haze at higher elevations. But otherwise lovely and 63F. EVERETT is experiencing a clear day with light clouds. 64F. WESTPORT is at a 63F and clear. You can see the marine layer in the distance.
  2. If we take a peek at the satellites, we see smoke has mostly left the west for now. Canadian wildfires are still burning and are expected to belch out a new flumes within the next 24hrs. It is likely some of BC's smoke will make it into NW Washington, but chances are high it will remain high and out of our way.
  3. Pretty sky at dusk tonight. The high was 68F with a low of 53F. Currently 59F.
  4. Smoke now blankets the entire west. This is an extension from the Canadian wildfires. Wildfires in the US are pretty 'tame' at the moment. It is a thin, high layer of smoke. So nothing getting in the way of people's lives other then making the sky look dirty. This is from earlier today.
  5. Beautiful day, cooler, felt nice. But the smoke was still visible at the crestline of the Cascade's. But above, the sky was nice and blue. Also some neat clouds around sunset. It hit 69F today. Nice.
  6. Okay, we've trained for this. Remember to panic and run in circles. We don't know what rain is anymore.
  7. Temps never got close to the original projected high of 84. They then lowered it to 79. We reached 74F today! Currently 59F. I didn't believe it either until my neighbor's devices also confirmed it.
  8. You know what! You're right @TT-SEA! I posted the wrong one. I had both (and others) on my desktop and I dragged the wrong one over. Thanks for catching that!
  9. Here is the almost live satellite view from minutes ago. I was curious if we'd see the McEwan Fire's (Shelton) smoke but it's hard to tell. The smoke is clearly visible as it runs down and over the Cascade's and pools in the Willamette Valley as well, in that case mostly being fireworks smoke probably (?). Smoke is expected to stick around for a few more days, but ensembles and showing around July 7th, things might start to clean up. Still, most smoke is not low and there hasn't been as smoke smoke spewing from BC in the past 24hrs.
  10. As expected the rain chances this weekend evaporated. No rain in sight. But after this heat, temps still remain pretty high. Hit 77F here in Everett, currently 76F.
  11. Already not great air quality due to BC wildfire smoke. Expect it to get worse overnight as people light off fireworks. Let's hope we don't wake up to new local wildfire smoke from errant fireworks and irresponsible people.
  12. A Wildfire has started near Shelton. Evacuations have been ordered and helicopter crews are already on scene.
  13. Happy Independence Day! Hope everyone is having a great day!
  14. The smoke is clearly visible out there and it's going to stick around for some time it appears. At least the next three days according to the models. Impacts should remain minimal for most part as it will mostly be at higher elevations. You could really see the smoke layer over night as the moon was orange. The smoke is streaming in from Canada.
  15. This satellite shot from a few minutes ago, one can see the high smoke layer now south of Portland, Oregon. The smoke models are showing more smoke to come at lower levels by the Fourth of July. Just adding to some of the earliest smoke we've ever had to the region on top of the smoke we had earlier this year. Over the next few days, the model is showing some of the smoke will start to gather in the Pacific, west of Oregon. That is a classic set up where the smoke builds in the Pacific, then blows back in our face.
  16. Wildfires are starting... Along the Columbia Gorge is the biggest so far in the state. But some brush fires around the Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, and Yakima. It is going to be pretty scary heading into fireworks season with people who don't care about dry grasses and trees as we enter another week of non-stop sunshine. Very minimal chances of drizzle for next weekend.
  17. Nonstop sunshine it seems like since May. Will we ever get some rain? Currently 68F and sunny. Everett forecast.
  18. Snow in the Washington Cascade's! We need any little bit we can get!
  19. It's amazing how different the sunset tonight is compared to last night. Okay, last picture post tonight! I promise! I just wish wherever you are, you're enjoying the sunset as well! JUNE 18 It is beautiful in it's own way, but not nearly as vidid and vibrant as the night before. JUNE 17 The colors were deep and intense on Saturday. A truly spectacular sight to behold!
  20. Sorry to keep posting. Here are some of the sunset pictures. It's just so beautiful tonight, how can I stop? Blessed to live where we live. Happy Father's Day.
  21. The sky is having a lovely dusk right now. The sun is shining through the overcast skies and it's making for some perfect colors and contrasts! Check out this gnarly cloud with the colors of Possession Sound.
  22. Overcast with light showers throughout the day. Super refreshing and cool outside. Currently 52F. The evening is setting up for another beautiful sunset!
  23. Vancouver's waterfront is such a neat new district. I am excited to see a new city skyline grow in the Pacific Northwest! I took photos year ago of the little skyline they used to have, but it's growing to new heights now. My main concern is how it is disconnected from the downtown, and the downtown's businesses won't thrive because it's too far away. People won't mingle. Maybe over the years, it will all become the "downtown" and not be separated. Hope you had fun, nice photos!
  24. One of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen. Certainly the best this year. Dark ominous clouds mixed with an orange sky led to deep blue/purple clouds that contrasted beautifully. So much natural saturation in the sky. Current temp is 52F in Everett.
