  1. Made it to Lake Tahoe before the passes closed yesterday. Blizzard moving in. Insane amount of snow in the region already and there’s no stopping. Very cold also, 23F down at the lake. Currently lumpst white out conditions down at lake level as well. This is amazing for the snow pack! Spring and summer this year will look very different.
  2. Pleasant morning this morning, sunny, mild, gentle breeze, was out for a walk. Then pressures crashed all of a sudden about an hour ago, down to 29.60 from almost 30 this morning. Winds picking up, some pretty strong gusts here. Storm is a-brewing
  3. Misting nicely this morning. Nothing crazy but everything is wet. Surprising how saturated everything is. Instant puddles even with this little rain.
  4. Windy, windy, STORMY here in Sacramento. Hope my fence that came down during the Jan 7 wind storm and was temporarily repaired is going to withstand this. Redwoods are dropping some big branches again. Not as cold as it has been, currently 56F but the windchill makes it pretty unpleasant. In other news, I am excited to see that the forecast for rain resuming in about a week is becoming more certain. Keep drying out for a bit and then hit us with more water!
  5. 1.8 in here from this event. Almost all came yesterday, only very occasional drizzle here today. 18.85in total for the season so just hit the annual average. I am ready for a dry break but also hope this won’t be the end of the wet season. Hopefully more rain in 2 weeks or so.
  6. Are they draining certain reservoirs to fill other's downstream? Casitas is completely empty, and Oroville keeps changing. You think its just in anticipation for flooding or are they shifting around water for better long term storage?
  7. Really just misting rain here today, weather station recorded a mere 0.1in so far. Pretty windy though but nothing like the wind storm from last weekend. Kinda glad there's not too much rain, my backyard had some time to drain the standing water.
  8. Yes, I worked over night last night down by Stockton and there were tornado warning right as that line of thunderstorms moved through around 4am. Not sure if anything actually touched down. Lots of little isolated pockets of rain and wind today. Pretty unsettled air.
  9. Only 1.2in of rain we got out of this storm yesterday in Sacramento. Seems like it went more south than originally anticipated. New years storm brought us 3 inches but the ground is so saturated, even the 1.2in made everything flood again. Also had a strong line of thunderstorms come through last night at 3:30am. Not very often you wake up to flashing and rumbling.
  10. Hello everyone, excited to join the discussion. Long time reader and finally got an account here. I’m in NorCal, Sacramento region and the recent crazy weather finally encouraged me to join. I got a weather station last summer and it’s thrown me even deeper into the obsession weather than I already had been. Anyways, here’s a picture of our fence blowing down during last nights crazy storm. Hope tonight isn’t quite as terrifying. We lost power and so did our station unfortunately so I don’t know what the max gusts were but I think it was somewhere in the 60s mph. Craziest wind storm I’ve ever been in. Precipitation is looking nice here, currently at 14.5 inches for the season, average is somewhere around 18 for the entire year, so it’s looking great! See you around the forums!
