  1. Serious question, not being a jerk. Is Kuchera ever correct?
  2. I'm going with this will be a bust for nebraska.
  3. Thunder storm in oma. Three brite flashes in 5 min. Sadly sounds like rain...
  4. Two very faint lightning flashes in sw omaha
  5. OMA mentions the possibility of snow again LONG TERM...(Monday night through Friday) Issued at 235 PM CDT Fri Oct 4 2019 Dry conditions continue into mid-week with the main focus in the long-term centered around a large approaching trough with quite a bit of cold air along with it. An associated surface cold front is forecast to move through the area on Thursday with rain and possible snow showers along with it as it quickly slides through the region.
  6. Changing to sleet and snow in west omaha right now. Im sure it will be short lived.....
  7. Changed over to heavy snow in sw omaha a little before 0630
  8. SW Omaha, my street is a sheet of ice. Rain still falling.
  9. Guess I'm confused. I thought it was supposed to slow this evening then pick up again after midnight. Not the case?
  10. Must not be good, I thought there would be much more going on in this forum
  11. This is the overnight euro and where it lays down the heaviest snow. It has the highest amounts between here (Omaha) and des moines. A strong trof is heading toward the ok panhandle getting ready to make the turn. This map is valid Christmas evening. Euro has snow developing Christmas night between 9pm and midnight. Travel on Friday will definitely be impacted across the eastern half of Nebraska and all of iowa with snow and blowing snow. In-house techniques would indicate euro is slightly too far east with heavy snow axis. Winds Friday off of euro are nne at 30 possible gusts to 40. Computer issues in dc resolved, still haven't seen anything on status of gfs hires.
  12. Local met. that has been posting on this strom just said he's done posting the operational GFS. Said it's worthless.
  13. Snowshoe, great picture. Reminds me of when I was young. My grandparents had some snowmobiles that would we take out on the lake. That was a long time ago, haven't been on one since.
  14. Going on record, going to be another brown Christmas in Omaha. Would be happy if I was wrong.
  15. And the disappointment begins... From Mr. Flowers UPDATE 6AM Wednesday: Overnight model cycles continue the downward trend. GFS model has .33 total precip and euro has .18". GFS now has temps at 10k ft right at 0deg C which would bring ice pellets into the picture. Snow ratio was up to 12:1, not sure why with temps still warming aloft.
  16. Omaha at least starting to talk about it: ACCUMULATING LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW CONTINUES THROUGH THE DAY SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT. THE GFS IS VERY AGGRESSIVE WITH THE PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS...SO THIS WILL HAVE TO BE WATCHED. IN ADDITION...THERE IS A LITTLE WIND THAT COULD WORSEN TRAVEL CONDITIONS. THERE APPEARS TO BE A BREAK SUNDAY...WITH SNOW RETURNING SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY FOR PARTS OF THE AREA.
  17. I think the model are just teasing us now. This is set up for a HUGE let down this weekend. I hope i'm wrong, but it seems like no one is buying into these models.
  18. I would love to see at least one decent storm to come through, but don't think it will happen. If trends hold true the system will shift north or south in the coming days. I'm ready for Spring.
  19. Flowers posted something on this storm to watch. Looooonnnnnnggggg ways out though, and will probably end up in chicago!! https://www.facebook.com/JimFlowersKmtvMeteorologist/photos/a.150163845170940.1073741828.148018328718825/227430670777590/?type=1&theater
  20. The rate was great, but the air was too warm, the ground was too warm, and the duration was too short. Put those ingrediants together and you get.... LET DOWN! The snow didn't even last 10 hours on the ground.
  21. will be interesting to see how this one turns out, but we're still talking only a few inches. I'm ready to put this winter to bed. Bring on spring!
  22. I'm happy with six! Wouldn't say were out of the woods yet, with that cutoff so close it wouldn't take much of a shift to take us out of the running!
  23. well, it was fun while it last! Think I'm gonna put the snow blower back in the shed! Not going to need it this year.
  24. GFS has been looking amazing for the past week when looking at 300+ hours, but as it gets closer the storms turn into nothing or shift away. Losing hope fast for this winter. Bring on the warm!
