  1. Almost guaranteed to be cloud free as well!
  2. Glad you got to see it! I was lucky as well at my viewing spot in Clifton/Valley mills area. The morning was completely socked in with thick clouds and we were expecting to not see anything. As the morning went on the clouds quickly began to burn off and break up. About a 1/2 hour from totality a large clearing took place and passed over us during the entirety of totality, we had zero clouds! It was incredible! The prominences were much more pronounced this time vs. 2017. Other neat occurrences were nearby roosters crowing, crickets, noticeable drop in temp, and even a barred owl started to hoot shortly after totality. The reactions from the first-timers is always special too Great trip! And the ranch we stayed at was absolutely spectacular, but that’s a different story. We are considering Egypt for the 2027 eclipse
  3. High clouds or haze could still be pretty great. In 2017 we had similar conditions and once it started to get close to totality, it actually cleared up. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced! I’m hoping for a similar scenario this year. Don’t give up hope! Good luck!
  4. Any chance I could get you to post the euro?
  5. I’ve never been cheering harder for the euro!
  6. I’d invite all my fellow weatherforum folks if I could! We have literally never met the people we are staying with. It’s a friend of a friend of a friend that is apparently quite wealthy and has a guest house on his ranch . It should be quite the experience for sure!
  7. I’m going to be in Clifton Any suggestions for other things to do in the area? Or places to eat? We are going to be there for a few days
  8. Where do I find this? I’m not seeing it when I click on cloud cover. edit: nevemind, it’s showing up for me now. Nice find!
  9. Are you in the path of totality? I would highly recommend finding a spot in the path of totality. It’s so worth it!
  10. MSP ended up with 6.9” with a 17:1 ratio. Pretty crazy ratio considering earlier in the day it was 41 degrees.
  11. Quite a bit of good info in this link for those planning a trip. https://eclipsophile.com/2024tse/
  12. The LOW temp for MSP was 45, which is 1 degree shy of the previous record HIGH temp for the day (46). Got up to 55 this afternoon. Crazy!
  13. Anyone know where I can find a map that shows the likelihood of clouds on that day?
  14. MSP needs a measly .3” from this storm to crack the top ten snowiest winters on record. Should easily happen, as I have about 3” on the ground here in St. Paul as of 6:00pm. MSP will likely be in the #7 or #8 spot by the end of the day.
  15. Some dry air moving in. Going to be tough to even reach 3” with the way the radar is looking. NWS may have jumped the gun with a WWA. We’ll see what happens this evening once the sun goes down.
  16. I’m on the other side of town (St. Paul) but we had 6” here as well.
  17. NWS point has 17-30” for my location in St. Paul. I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything even remotely close to that high end before. Just to put this in perspective, 17.1” would tie the number 5 biggest recorded snowfalls @ MSP. 30” would be the largest ever, just nudging out the Halloween blizzard of ‘91. When you factor in the strong winds that will accompany the snow on Wednesday night/Thursday, this storm has the potential to absolutely cripple the area and could become extremely dangerous for anyone on the road. Not to mention the potential for structure collapses, emergency vehicles unable to get to calls etc. The side streets in the urban core (Minneapolis/St. Pau)are still ice-rutted from the snow we had earlier in the year. I could easily envision a scenario where the street plows will not be able to navigate the side streets and graders will have to be called in.
  18. I’m more of a lurker in this forum, but I congratulate you on your new job and I welcome you to St. Paul! I’m very familiar with STP and the surrounding burbs so feel free to message me with any questions you have about the area, I’d be happy to help out!
  19. The Greenwood fire may prove to be the big one everyone was worried about. To go from just being discovered on Sunday to over 2000 acres on Monday shows how explosive things are right now. The next few days should be interesting.
  20. Just had a flash of lightning and thunder here with sleet. The sky is really strange looking right now.
  21. First flakes of the season here in St. Paul today. It came down pretty heavy for 5-10 minutes this morning. .2” officially at the airport.
