  1. Really been coming down here the last 1.5 hours. Radar still looks great. Maybe we can top 3"
  2. Just started snowing here in the last hour. Hoping for 2-3", high end would be 4" but I doubt we hit that.
  3. GFS, CMC, and ICON look remarkably similar for this weekend, just differences in amounts.
  4. Can we trust the ICON? Don’t know much about it. It just crushes Nebraska this weekend. We can dream.
  5. 18z ICON hits Nebraska hard this weekend. That would be great it it verifies. Who knows?
  6. No snow here today, but wind switched after lunch from the Northwest and is gusting. We actually have some blowing snow in town. I would bet the country roads may have some drifting. The snow yesterday was very dry and powdery, easy to blow around.
  7. NWS Hastings has already put us back into a Winter Weather Advisory for tomorrow for 2-4 inches, especially south of I-80 into Northern Kansas. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 6 PM CST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Snow expected during the day Tuesday. Plan on slippery road conditions. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are forecast. * WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and east central and south central Nebraska. * WHEN...From 6 AM to 6 PM CST Tuesday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Visibilities may be reduced at times during the snow. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
  8. One week from now, Feb. 12-13, 12Z GFS has Central and Western Nebraska getting crushed. This is an entirely different storm and since it is 7 days out way to early for any threads, just something else with potential (nothing more at this point).
  9. Then I see at the end of the period the Low looks to cut off in the Southwest then come back on a northeast path to the Central Plains. What a wild pattern. It would all pan out, but better than recent years for sure.
  10. Long ways to go, but this storm has potential to bring a large mixture of precipitation types. I have seen these storms before in Nebraska where we could have anything from heavy snow, sleet, freezing rain, to plain rain moving across. This one has the potential to cause travel issues and other problems. Shouldn't be a boring week around the Central US.
  11. NWS Hastings is at least mentioning this weekend's potential stormy weather: Late Thursday into Friday another disturbance will slide into the trough over the east coast. This disturbance will cause an area of precipitation to develop across the Northern Plains slowly sliding southward impacting northern Nebraska and potentially into central and eastern Nebraska. Hot on its heals, a potent disturbance will dive out of the Pacific Northwest and move towards the Central Plains. The combination the two of these systems will lead to the chance for snowfall Thursday night through Saturday evening. There is still quite a bit of time for this period to be fine tuned and as it nears. Stay tuned to later forecasts.
  12. I was confused also. We just had some mixed precipitation move through with a temp of 11. Weird. Overnight through first half of Tuesday they are saying 3-4 inches, possibly more, mainly south of I-80 in Central Nebraska. That will add to my solid 5" or more and then eyes turn to the weekend. Tom, you have drawn me back in.
  13. Solid 4-5” or a little more with quite a bit of drifting. I think our town was caught off guard as they are just now plowing the snow routes. I was in 4x4 in the truck to make it to church and streets were bad. Usually average 300 at the 9:30 service, barely 100 present. Our pastor was contemplating canceling but we cancelled 2 weeks ago. Largest storm since blizzard of February 1, 2016. Pastor also mentioned the hype of the blizzard 2 weeks ago that was a dud and this was forecasted to maybe be an inch with little wind. I had to chuckle. Even pastors can comment on the NWS.
  14. Patience is a virtue. Just goes to show that Mother Nature doesn’t feel like we should break out the shorts. Will have to snowblow the driveway after church.
  15. By the way, it is 3 degrees with a wind chill of -18. Yesterday it hit 55. That is Nebraska weather.
  16. I’m with you. These little dustings have basically been our winter. I would rather start tracking severe weather than read the words “a coating to an inch possible.”
  17. Happens so often it is almost comical. Spring can arrive at anytime for most Nebraskans imo.
  18. 18z GFS is party time for the forum. Who’s bringing the beer?
  19. Looked at the GFS, ICON, and CMC for the next week or more. GFS is totally different than ICON and CMC. Massive differences in amounts. I can see how hard it is to make forecasts when there is such disparity. Example for me- GFS - 2", CMC - 7", ICON - 13".
  20. 12Z GFS showing a little streak of snow through Central Nebraska on Sunday. I think I have typed that 100 times this winter. Will this one bring anything? Who knows?
