  1. Looks like Ocean Beach. We were there in December. Is the pier still closed?
  2. Thanks for that link. I skimmed through it and found it to be quite interesting.
  3. Still light rain and 34. Nothing frozen here except for the ground under the coating of fresh rain.
  4. Just raining here in Fircrest and 34. I don't see us getting any freezing rain at all. It generally has to be below freezing when the precipitation starts for the liquid to freeze. So I'm not sure why there was so much talk of freezing rain coming by some. The frozen ground really isn't making a difference. Unless things change when the heavier precipitation moves in, this is a non-event. Lame.
  5. So we're a victim of the incredible cold air. That's why I prefer snow over extreme cold. But I understand some people really like it cold. However it appears that areas around Portland are experiencing both. Maybe we can next time....
  6. Hope you're right! I was just going to say that it's not going to snow in Tacoma today, but maybe still a slight chance?? Otherwise this is LAME...as someone else would say, haha.
  7. Cold temps might kill some plants also. Interesting that the new USDA hardiness zones map just came out which shifted zones either 1/4 or 1/2 a zone to the north, and now we get hit with a very cold air mass! https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/
  8. I can now report that there are some light flurries here as well. Kind of weird though, there are broken clouds overhead. Must be wringing every bit of moisture out of them.
  9. I know it's just weather, and I'm being overly dramatic, but I'm with Randy on this one. Cold air without snow is such a waste! Send all the weenies you want everybody....
  10. I'm not sure where I'm at in the 7 or 8 stages of grief. Probably mourning with some anger mixed in. So much time investing tracking this thing. Yesterday there was some hope, but overnight it vanished like Pacific moisture meeting a dry air mass. Not even the possibility of virga. Anyway, enjoy your snow Portland. Sure hope Tiger gets a sub-freezing high.
  11. I have been following the forum for quite a while and usually only contribute during snow events. I am currently home from work recovering from hernia surgery so having something to track has been entertaining. It's been quite a ride following these models runs, though currently disappointing since I'm located just west of Tacoma in Fircrest. We'll see what happens, still room for surprises I suppose. Thanks to everyone for analysis, discussion and even the drama, haha. Now let's have a dynamic arctic front or shift things north and get some snow!
  12. Anybody tired of PNW rain and cold should have been on the SE coast this week. It's been in the 70s and 80s in Charleston, Beaufort and Savannah. So much history here, really beautiful!
  13. A nice cell passing right over JBLM. Looks like it will miss me unfortunately.
  14. Thanks, that was what I was thinking and hopefully this summer will reverse the trend of hot and dry summers we have had lately. I am a cool weather fan and prefer summer temps under 75, though I know that is not a popular opinion with some people on here, but just my preference.
  15. What kind of summer did we have in the Puget Sound area in 2011? Or Portland also, though I don't live there. Or 1962?
  16. Cold and gray 39 degrees here. I think we're done with lowland snow chances in the Tacoma area. And my garden is thinking spring!
  17. Pretty fun up there on a winter day also. We went up in mid December last year and there was 8" of snow then. I'm sure a lot more now.
  18. Yeah, I know we have several small events, but my brother in south Everett/Mukilteo seems to always have more snow and he doesn't even like it as much as I do!
