If you're bored and want to know some of what fed Cliff's big ego, you could read this from 2009: https://www.seattlemet.com/news-and-city-life/2009/09/weather-1009
The fact that Cliff doesn't get those numbers anymore and that YouTube folks like Snyder are getting some of the following Cliff had may have somehting to do with it. But as in most cases of classical tragedy, his downfall has continued to be his own hubris.
Thanks for that link. I skimmed through it and found it to be quite interesting.

Still light rain and 34. Nothing frozen here except for the ground under the coating of fresh rain.

Many places will have ice.
Possibly, but I was mostly referring to my location.

Just raining here in Fircrest and 34. I don't see us getting any freezing rain at all. It generally has to be below freezing when the precipitation starts for the liquid to freeze. So I'm not sure why there was so much talk of freezing rain coming by some. The frozen ground really isn't making a difference. Unless things change when the heavier precipitation moves in, this is a non-event.
Lame.

Normally the precip would have no problem reaching Seattle with a low that strong tracking where it is. Except the dew point is around 0 in Seattle
So we're a victim of the incredible cold air. That's why I prefer snow over extreme cold. But I understand some people really like it cold. However it appears that areas around Portland are experiencing both. Maybe we can next time....

When the low gets closer to the coast we should see another push north. Going to be close.
Hope you're right! I was just going to say that it's not going to snow in Tacoma today, but maybe still a slight chance??
Otherwise this is LAME...as someone else would say, haha.

I’m about ready to sell both vehicles and go back to 1990’s SUV and truck. Headlights were a 5 minute change in those vehicles I had back then.
And I tried to figure out how to get Peacock on my tv but it’s over 10yrs old now and doesn’t have that app, and my Amazon fire stick is telling me I can’t put that app in my shopping cart…I might need to stream it on my phone I don’t know.
What has this world come to!!!
I’m going back to these…I am informing my wife of that when she wakes up!!
You're on a roll today, good stuff!

6 degrees in Bellingham with N23G46 is North Dakota weather! 23 here and cloudy but skies should be clearing this morning.
Hopefully this kills off some of the bugs. A nice reset by nature.
Cold temps might kill some plants also. Interesting that the new USDA hardiness zones map just came out which shifted zones either 1/4 or 1/2 a zone to the north, and now we get hit with a very cold air mass!

32 here! Light snow now!
I can now report that there are some light flurries here as well. Kind of weird though, there are broken clouds overhead. Must be wringing every bit of moisture out of them.

Sounds like a loved one has died.
I know it's just weather, and I'm being overly dramatic, but I'm with Randy on this one. Cold air without snow is such a waste! Send all the weenies you want everybody....

I'm not sure where I'm at in the 7 or 8 stages of grief. Probably mourning with some anger mixed in. So much time investing tracking this thing. Yesterday there was some hope, but overnight it vanished like Pacific moisture meeting a dry air mass. Not even the possibility of virga. Anyway, enjoy your snow Portland. Sure hope Tiger gets a sub-freezing high.

Hope you have a speedy recovery and get feet of snow
Thanks! And really happy for the mountain snow and colder January than we've had for quite awhile even if we can't get lowland snow!

I have been following the forum for quite a while and usually only contribute during snow events. I am currently home from work recovering from hernia surgery so having something to track has been entertaining. It's been quite a ride following these models runs, though currently disappointing since I'm located just west of Tacoma in Fircrest. We'll see what happens, still room for surprises I suppose. Thanks to everyone for analysis, discussion and even the drama, haha. Now let's have a dynamic arctic front or shift things north and get some snow!

2011 was a really nice summer. I don’t know what 1962 was like off the top of my head, but I can tell you it was probably cooler than any summer we’ve seen in the last 25 years without even looking.
Thanks, that was what I was thinking and hopefully this summer will reverse the trend of hot and dry summers we have had lately. I am a cool weather fan and prefer summer temps under 75, though I know that is not a popular opinion with some people on here, but just my preference.

Some rankings for the last week of February (2-22 to 2-28) west of the Cascades.

Salem: 2nd coldest on record (35.2) after 1962 (30.2)
Hillsboro: Coldest on record (32.2)
Eugene: 4th coldest on record (36.7) after 2011 (36.1), 2019 (36.1) and 1962 (33.8)
Astoria: 3rd coldest on record (36.2) after 2011 (35.9) and 1962 (35.1)Olympia: 3rd coldest on record (32.6) after 1962 (30.3) and 2011 (29.4)
Seattle: 3rd coldest on record (34.6) after 2011 (32.3) and 1962 (31.9)
Bellingham: Tied with 2011 for coldest on record (31.3)
Hoquiam: 3rd coldest on record (36.5) after 2011 (35.4) and 1962 (34.7)
In Eastern OR and the Columbia Basin, it looks like 1993 is by far the coldest last week of February in a lot of stations. Must have been deep snowcover I'm guessingWhat kind of summer did we have in the Puget Sound area in 2011? Or Portland also, though I don't live there. Or 1962?

Compared to most places in the Seattle area we actually have done pretty good this year. Little bit of elevation for all the marginal events this winter really helped. We were never in the bullseye of any particular event this winter for the most part but managed a bit of snow just about every time.
Yeah, I know we have several small events, but my brother in south Everett/Mukilteo seems to always have more snow and he doesn't even like it as much as I do!
