  1. The offshore flow is our friend and our enemy. Pretty much turned to drizzle here. The precipitation is too light.
  2. All snow here on the border of Fircrest and University Place. I really had my doubts we would see anything, but the power of offshore flow is amazing!
  3. Southerly winds have arrived, 43 degrees with water running down my downspouts. At least no water backing up into the house from ice dams. Don't think Tacoma will see any snow tonight or tomorrow.
  4. It is. Though my only complaint is you can't see locations when viewing on phone compared to desktop, laptop or tablet.
  5. No 50 mph gusts here like the advisory was saying at one point, in fact it is completely calm. Where did the wind go? 37 degrees and melting.
  6. Does anyone think the Tacoma area will get wind gusts to 50 MPH late tonight through tomorrow? I see that a wind advisory has been issued. It seems like strong southerly winds will encourage fairly rapid snow melt.
  7. Make sure you don't tell her when the next arctic blast/Grays Harbor snow storm is coming also!
  8. She was right on both counts. My wife didn't seem to understand the situation and muttered something about stalkers and sharing too much info on line
  9. Nice little squall just went through Tacoma. A couple of pics from Ruston Way.
  10. Thanks for the update. I was going to go into Fred Meyers and ask about him. Might have been a bit awkward since he is ok At least he knows this community cares, even people like me who don't post much.
  11. Its my neighborhood FM. Maybe I should go in after work and ask??
  12. It is likely a false lily of the valley or Solomon's seal.
  13. Ok, reporting from Fircrest, we have had 45 show up so far. We have had as many as 100 kids on some Halloweens in the past. Popular area I guess.
  14. It looks like peak was around the 20th. It seemed like colors were a little late there this year due to a wetter summer and warm fall overall.
  15. Yeah we were fortunate to hit coastal Maine at peak color, but the Boston area was still pretty green. Probably mostly bare now with the high winds that just went through!
  16. Also spent some time in Acadia a week and a half ago. Unfortunately it rained or was cloudy for most of the time. But did get some pics of fall colors.
  17. We missed a Nor'easter by a week. Kind of disappointed... Portsmouth was a nice city.
  18. Just came back from a New England trip a week ago. Really love coastal Maine, NH and NE Massachusetts. I think I could live there, but my wife wasn't so sure. I really like lighthouses and saw 13 on the trip. Maine itself has 65 lighthouses, though many are on islands and only visible from a boat.
  19. Go Beavers! I graduated from there with a B.S. in Horticultural Science. Of course that was 30 years ago, but it's still a great school.
  20. I totally agree. But there is always a bit of doubt in the back of my mind...been burned too many times!
