  1. That was after the smoke lifted.. At 9am it was dark as night with ash falling. It was surreal
  2. Went to Noble Fox. Sat on the deck over the creek. Very nice. Found a few other options to check out in the future
  3. Spent the afternoon just downhill from Andrew at Silverton Reservoir paddleboarding with my better half and several hundred of our closest friends. 94f and a water temp of 64f. (Yes, I brought a thermometer) Everybody was in the water. Very windy. So glad to finally have some summer. Finished with a dinner and drinks on an outside deck in Silverton. Wonderful Saturday in the PNW
  4. Perfect golf weekend around Bremerton. Comfortable and cloudy Sunday at McCormick Woods. Finished with a seafood feast at Anthony's. Monday was 36 holes at Gold Mountain. Drizzly and comfortable for the morning round on Cascades course. Sky lifted for afternoon round on Olympic and even had some sunshine that dried out the moisture on the greens. So lush and green all around the area. Considering all the rain previous, grounds were not soggy at all.
  5. Booze has always been there (along with some Copenhagen) Ibuprofen and K Tape have only been recent additions!!
  6. 36 holes at Gold Mountain on Monday, preceded by 18 at McCormick Woods on Father's Day. Hope it's dry. Cool is fine. Either way, ibuprofen will be the drug of choice.
  7. That would be great but I'm not holding my breath. Our Friday festivities will most likely be impacted though
  8. Looking forward to a rather damp graduation this weekend at UW?! We'll be dry under cover at Husky Stadium, but if my daughter is sitting on the field, she may need to revisit her outfit of choice!!
  9. OSU recovered two onside kicks late and Missouri St. could only manage a field goal the rest of the game
  10. 13 runs? Hell, they could have had a hitter up 3 times in the inning!!
  11. When I was about 15, we hosted a baseball team from Hawai'i and they were a bit freaked out. We explained why and they got it. They occasionally torched sugar cane fields too
  12. Me too! Growing up in Stayton, it always smelled like late summer! That and the mint fields and the stink from the cannery during corn season!
  13. When your constantly moving and we are little more than two weeks removed from snow on the ground, it felt fine (even ankle deep in 50 degree ocean water. Meanwhile, 65 in Salem and the weeds are coming out easily, roots and all
  14. Another great day of razor clamming at Gearhart this morning. Calm and upper 40's, good enough for shorts and t shirt. 4 hours total of driving, 20 minutes to limits, 1 hour to clean them and now some yard work before a feast this evening. Despite some problems, gotta love the PNW!!
  15. First game this year for me will be the Red Sox the day after UW graduation. Perfect timing as it a 1pm start and we can catch it before heading back home. I try to make a few games every year since my daughter has been at UW. Good excuse to visit
  16. Got up early Easter Sunday to head to Gearhart for some razor clamming for our family get together. I can't believe how much snow was on HWY 26 over Sunset Summit. I'm not talking about leftover roadside berms, but actual, widespread snowpack in areas above 1k'. What month is this? (Limits in 30 minutes and they are so tasty when fresh!)
  17. Snow shower earlier in Stayton. I put on Christmas music to enhance the enjoyment of the holidays
  18. Not to be a "bleeding heart," far from it, but a forum like this might be a positive form of therapy and outlet. As I have worked through some of my own demons, I simply have ignored most of his "contributions" and learned to not take them personal. Just a thought
  19. Tides will play havoc on those totals at the beaches even if they materialize. It is April afterall
  20. Those were the days!! I have even considered going back as a "side hustle!" Starting to miss those early mornings and the peacefulness.....as long as all I have to do is mow!!
