  1. And the fact it's going back into a nice GOA block later in the month after a quick spike. #coldregime
  2. I wanna believe! Pretty much historic for late March.
  3. Mins in some places are going to remain pretty chilly during the warm weather and then we go right back to troughing again. Good stuff! No doubt the nice weekend is going to be enjoyable too.
  4. Ya think a yearly mean of -67 might be just a tad too cold?
  5. I am liking what I'm seeing right now. We're on a good roll.
  6. Incredibly the 18z ECMWF AI caved to the GFS. Pretty D**n crazy! Looks like we have a shot at seeing some chilly continental air later in the month. Not easy to pull off here this late in the season. Might be an interesting average low this month for some places.
  7. GFS might end up being right. Sometimes it does great with catching onto things in the longer range.
  8. Difficult to not be dry with high pressure dominating the NE Pacific.
  9. Totally agree. Many of the nights during whatever warm period actually happens could be pretty cold in the outlying areas. At this point above normal daily averages appear they will be limited to maybe as little as 4 days for some places.
  10. If the 0z GFS verifies I will be a happy camper. Kind of a mid 1980s vibe.
  11. I think the area they had labeled as Mongolia might have been pretty close to reality. Some of them were kind of crazy though.
  12. Not really IMO. The East Slopes of the Cascades actually had a colder than normal January (even below the old normal) and this recent run of cold was pretty noteworthy.
  13. Quite a train wreck with a ton of above normal heights there.
  14. Pretty stunning how awful the models have been with the precip this weekend. SEA has only had .05 and I've had .10.
  15. I love those long evenings as well. That and early morning are the absolute best in summer.
  16. It's something all of us have dealt with. The change of the clocks is well worth it at this latitude. I guarantee if we go to permanent daylight time everyone will be bitcching about the 9am sunrises in December. The people who want that change to be made don't think about that.
  17. Talk about an atypical pattern for March on the ECMWF as far as surface pressure is concerned. An astonishing lack of low pressure over the NE Pacific.
  18. Really nice retrogression signal on the GEFS tonight.
  19. A big problem with the China match in the SE is some parts of China have brutally cold winters.
  20. It actually shows the Portugal match way south of PDX. Up here I'm almost on the border of UK / France. Edit: Vilela Portugal is at 2,200 feet so it's like comparing apples and oranges.
  21. I'm not sure. That map showed some strikes pretty close to here as well. Didn't hear anything, but it got very nasty for about 15 minutes or so.
