  1. I think along with warning kids in schools about drugs they should show posts like this and warn about using the internet
  2. can confirm, drove from Corvalis back to Portland and the traffic was real bad. Small price to pay of course. Whenever I talk about seeing the absolute majesty of a total eclipse I don't say at the end yeah but traffic was pretty bad coming home.
  3. Next up: Do people in colder states get tired of the snow and winter? Does it matter what you think about the weather or does mother nature not care? And finally, sun in later spring - fun outdoor times or death fire harbinger of doom? All this and Andy Rooney tonight on 60 Minutes!
  4. Basically going from rain to snow couple times a minute right now. Mostly rain.
  5. ok fine I'll stop harping on it as long as you stop inexplicably adding like 7 spaces after every period I know other people on here feel the same as I do.
  6. I totally agree that what you're doing is a service to the forum and not at all extremely embarrassing
  7. That'll change it! If you just point it out another 30,000 times I'm sure it will fix it.
  8. Really coming down now snowing way harder than it ever did during the January storm.
  9. Mostly snow in Hillsboro. Nice to see at 10 am! Temp 36 at KHIO
  10. So we're thinking Portland might not get 8" of snow with temps at 38 and southerlies?
  11. nah we'll see a "2.2-47.7% chance of snow between 1-10"
  12. Lot of mixed precip over the last 30 min at work in Hillsboro. Mostly rain with snow mixed in, few times mostly snow. Back to just rain. Hoping this bodes well for later this week to pick up a dusting on the grass.
  13. Winterhawks are fun watch in person. Really good team this year, like most years. Also I like going to Memorial Coliseum, kind of cool to be in an old school stadium, you don't see many of those anymore. Plus you get to see some teenagers throw down. Too bad concessions are preposterously expensive.
  14. I get that and hey they are the experts here so we'll see how their meso analysis goes but in the end this cuts both ways, eventually the public shrugs off snow warnings that are inevitably rain.
  15. Last few events have certainly felt a little bizarro world to me from the office. Jan event had them saying the front was stalling and predicting 6-10" but radar looked paltry and very similar to modeling. This update from half an hour ago has: "The addition of high resolution guidance has significantly increased the probabilities of snow accumulation for these areas, including for the greater Portland and Vancouver metro area" What hi-res guidance is showing this? The only mention I see from them is HREF. GRAF/NAM/WRF/Euro are all in team nada to maybe some snow in the air at times.
  16. 2017 comparisons seem weird at least from a model perspective. Almost all models agreed on that having some sort of accumulating snow down here. You mostly have to hang your hat on the GFS right now for anything outside of a dusting. @Deweydogrequesting your local mesoscale wizard glass visions.
  17. my god this is truly exhausting @iFredhow do we force tim to mute jesse or vice versa in order to prevent this endlessly embarrassing daily bickering
  18. Had a friend who worked in Island Park seasonally, used to go up there and fly fish on Henrys Fork. Gorgeous summers for the approximately 34 hours of total summer you get before it starts snowing again.
  19. The story for today was supposed to be zr east of 205 with roads staying mostly wet west of that but hasn't really been the case. Some folks in Washington county have seen some more ice this evening.
  20. Good deal of ice and roads freezing again - forecasters in shambles
  21. Low level cold hung on a lot longer as usual. Thought I might have a chance of getting to work today but the car is still a popsicle and the side roads very treacherous. Impressive that even mets who have been here for many years still bust on this. Mark's forecast last night for 4PM in Portland was FORTY SIX DEGREES. Currently 32.
  22. Perhaps I didn't look closely enough due to post snow model fatigue (please see your doctor if your PSMF lasts more than 3 days) but seems like precip looks to be a little shorter lived than forecasted here. Would be nice. Stronger echoes on the tail end right now just north of Salem.
  23. idk Phil seems like he's here for a lot of the meta big picture pattern discussion not necessarily 100 pages of us in the pdx metro reporting exactly what percentage of sleet/snow is occurring
