  1. The eclipse shows up well on the satellite with the skies darkening from SW to NE across Mexico and into Texas.
  2. Eclipse is just an hour away for Mazatlan... peaking at 11:09 a.m. PDT. And then only 20 minutes later in Texas. Looks crystal clear down in Mazatlan. Hoping for an update from @bainbridgekid.
  3. Complete disaster. End of the world possibly.
  4. New 12Z GFS agrees... might luck out and have one of the weekend days be nice.
  5. Balance to some is troughing 100% of the time. Any break is always a disaster. It normally rains 350 days a year in the PNW.
  6. Nah... he was complaining about the possibility of some 60-degree weather this coming weekend when he returns. Truly a nightmare situation but still time for disaster to be averted.
  7. I like the latest ECMWF AI run... some nice balance with plenty of nice days.
  8. Surprisingly bare... I assume due to elevation.
  9. 18Z GFS basically bypasses the Seattle area with the system later in the week.
  10. Some Space Needle views today... love how you can zoom in on the mobile site and not lose all clarity.
  11. Sarcasm detector not functioning?
  12. Your pearl-clutching drama and extreme hyperbole seriously disminshes any message you intend. It's cartoonish.
  13. A warmer world is also much wetter. Check out the PETM period when the PNW was like Venezuela and the arctic was covered in forests.
  14. Spreads rainfall around... pretty important for balancing things out.
  15. Theatrics. I think you might be losing your mind.
  16. So much theatrics with you... they truly don't "desperately" need the moisture. Not sure if you are acting or going crazy.
  17. First it looked ridgy... then it looked like it troughing would be focused to the north... and now the models have come around to more of the same with that system diving down to SoCal next weekend. Crazy model swings the last few days.
  18. I would say the normal odds of that happening in his area are around 50% in early May. Graupel showers are pretty easy with any cold troughing convection.
  19. Yes... locals live in an alternate universe where every road going north towards Portland from Salem wasn't clogged. Of course you didn't drive north into Portland that day.
  20. Totally agree. I was enjoying my coffee and commented to my wife on the axisymmetric dissociation in the LF state in tropical convection.
  21. My sons said it was totally worth it and didn't care about the traffic. I just remembered them updating me on the very slow trip home when Andrew mentioned there was no traffic at all.
  22. Strange timing considering the ridge next weekend vanished and now the models show cold troughing instead.
  23. My sons and a bunch of their friends drove to a field south of Salem the night before and watched the eclipse there... but it took them hours to just get back into the Portland area afterwards. I guess I-5 was a parking lot so they went through Silverton and came up into Oregon City but even that was bumper-to-bumper for miles.
