  1. I'd love a good strait effect event. It's been a while since we've had ine locally.
  2. Wow, that's considerably less for us northerners.
  3. Campbell River (35k population) usually scores the most I would say. They're quite close to the mainland and not really influenced by the ocean like the rest of V.I. The east side of the island from Duncan to Courtenay can get heavy strait effect snow during strong outflow situations. Hasn't happened here in a few years though.
  4. 34F here. Nice to see the radar starting to fill in off the coast.
  5. North wind been picking up here the last hour. 20mph gusts so far. Been sitting at 35F most of the day, DP's starting to drop.
  6. 00z shows it snowing here from Wednesday afternoon to Saturday morning. Crazy if that verified.
  7. Heavy snow up here. Temp hovering right around 32F.
  8. A chilly 17F here this AM. Looks like radar is already showing returns near the south island.
  9. Over 5" here since noon and still going strong. This has really overperformed here compared to what was modeled.
  10. Not to often I can say the temp is 25F @ 1pm in the afternoon with heavy snow and a 25mph wind. Awesome!
  11. Very low vis. Especially up on the inland highway.
  12. High temp today here was 31.8F, and that was just after midnight last night. Currently 23.3F with light snow.
  13. This band of strait effect snow is just parked here dumping. Haven't seen snowfall rates like this here in a while.
  14. Just noticed Ballenas Islands switched over to more easterly. Maybe some fun up this tonight still? https://weather.gc.ca/past_conditions/index_e.html?station=wgb
  15. EC just issued a snowfall warning for East side of vancouver island. Lightly snowing here right now and looks like some activity on the radar out in the strait.
  16. Hoping some strait effect sets up here. Looks like Duncan to Nanaimo is in the ideal spot for it though.
  17. I have a feeling somewhere along East VI is going to get taken to pound town with some strait effect snow. Nanaimo north would be my guess.
  18. Lightly snowing here all morning. Not sticking. Temp hovering right around 32F
  19. Great track for me. Same track is how I scored most of the snow last winter.
  20. Good ol' 37F rain here. Heading up to Mount Washington for some snowshoeing this evening, that'll give me my much needed snow fix.
  21. Environment Canada just issued a weather Statement for the east side of the island and inland.
