How much longer should the accumulating snow last in CR? Should the snowfall rate pick up as the day goes on?

How's the rest of this month looking pattern wise around here? It would be nice to keep the storm train going around here. -
Snow is finally picking up here. We may not get the higher end of the forecasted totals, but we should be able to get to at least 6" or 7". Perhaps 8" if it really picks up.

I have never seen the visibility this low with no wind. Just pouring flakes. -
A report of 13" in CR now. Wow! Edit: IC just reported 15"!
-
Report of 11" in CR.
-
I am at just about 10" and it is still snowing, and the wind has really picked up.
-
Have not measured yet, but there is a report of 9" in CR. The snow has really picked up in the past hour. 10" seems like a given here.
-
I measured 7.0" at 10:30am in CR. I think somewhere between 9-10" is a good bet here. Radar shows bands of yellow moving across the area, but as of now, the snow is not as heavy as I would think it would be based on the radar. Hopefully the rate picks up around here a bit.

What is your prediction for snowfall in CR?

Why do you think it has been so dry in Cedar Rapids this summer and now into fall? Are we just unable to get in on heavy rain here anymore? I feel like we have been missing out on the heaviest of rain and snow here for quite some time. It's so dry here, it's just getting ridiculous.

Easily the strongest storm we've had here since the August 2020 derecho here. Wind gust of 90mph was recorded in Hiawatha, and lots of 70-80mph wind reports across the CR area.
-
It's absolutely ridiculous how dry and hot it's getting around here. This summer has been pretty boring so far, it's just ridiculous how all of the storms have missed Cedar Rapids. Areas to our south and east (as has been the trend for some time now) are easily going to finish the summer with at least double the amount of rain we've had here. Hopefully we can get some good storms on Friday, and next week but based on how things have gone this summer, I am not getting my hopes up yet.

After the front moves through tomorrow, rain chances appear low for at least another week around here. We are still below normal for the year for precipitation here. Hopefully we can get back to near or above normal precipitation around here so we don't go anymore below normal. It seems like there has always been a drought around here especially during the summer months for quite sometime around here.

April 2nd-5th. Severe Weather Outbreak Round 2
Iowawx replied to Clinton's topic in East of the Rockies
Still time for things to get going, but as of now, this could be a bust around here. Warm front has not moved through, only sitting at 62 now, and clouds have hung around all day. Radar doesn't look all that impressive right now. -
We just missed out here in CR. Yet another close call. The snow will melt very fast anyway, but it would have been nice to get all that snow here. Models had this band of snow centered right over us a few days ago but of course, veered off to the east. Perhaps we can get some snow tomorrow from a little system here.

No way 18" of snow falls from this storm system.
