  1. Jeff Renner at King TV in Seattle on the 17th is thinking that snow level will probably not plunge to any further than around 1,000 feet at best by the morning of the 20th.
  2. Only 3.1 inches fell in Southeast Tacoma. I had 0.3 inches a few days before that. I now have 4.5 inches for the 2013-14 season.
  3. The average snow pack depth maximum peaks out at 178 inches on April 1st and 7th according to data at the Western Regional Climate Center and the all time maximum snow pack depth was 367 inches (A little over 30 feet 6 inches) back in 1956.
  4. That heading should read "Above Normal Snow Pack at Paradise on Mount Rainier as of 2-17-14". There is quite a difference between snowfall and snow pack. Sorry about that.
  5. I checked the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center site this morning and it appeared that 29 inches of new snow had fallen since yesterday when the automated snow board was brushed off around 3 PM by the ranger staff. There snow pack has reached 155 inches (12 feet 11 inches), normal for the date is 145.5 inches. The all time record for the date is 268 inches (22 feet 4 inches) back in 1972. It is also interesting to note here that 1972 was a world record year for Paradise. The total snowfall for the season ending on June 30th was 1,122 inches and has since been taken over by the Mount Baker Ski Area up north.
