  1. Regarding winter, November is almost about as inferior as March. Very small window for snow/cold and it goes back to rain afterwards. Typically December is our starting point.
  2. No surprises here. October average high was almost as anomalously cold as November so far has been anomalously warm.
  3. Average high as of 11/10 is 62.5 in Klamath Falls. For over 4000 feet elevation that's gotta be really warm. Almost as warm as lowland locations.
  4. Average high for the first 10 days of November running +12.5 in Klamath Falls, with a Mean running +9.0!!
  5. High of 71 today in Klamath Falls. This breaks the previous record of 63 in 2013. Smashed by 8 degrees! And this is now the 3rd day in a row to break record highs.
  6. Another record high set today in Klamath Falls. 69 degrees beating the record of 66 in 1955.
  7. KLMT reached 69 degrees for a high! This surpasses the record of 65 in 1978. My warmest November day I have personally experienced so far since moving here after Thanksgiving 2010.
  8. Crazy clouds today. Easily a once a year kind of sky. There are too many photos so I'll drop a Flickr link here. https://www.flickr.com/photos/131173880@N03/albums/72157676326351125
  9. I'm much cooler than everyone else this morning. Even had heavy fog (which quickly cleared around 7 for some reason) earlier.
  10. I was 5 away from record of 68 in 1978. While 70+ is possible here it is hard to come by. I was actually delighted I was in the 60's today, comparing to the last half dozen November's I have experienced.
  11. I'd be surprised if we don't get decent mountain pack again this winter. If a Super Nino gave K-Falls 2x normal snowfall, no snow this winter would be a total fluke at the least.
  12. If Klamath Falls can get 70+ in November, I don't see an issue with the 78 in Hillsboro. But what do I know.... KLMT List of 70+ days in November 11/01/1949 - 72 11/02/1949 - 72 11/04/2009 - 70 11/05/1980 - 70 11/11/1996 - 72 11/13/1995 - 71
  13. Well February is still a solid winter month here in the cascades. It has no problem delivering average amounts of snowfall, at least when there's no droughts. But yeah March I think was a bigger month for snow/cold back in the 'ol hay day.
  14. November 2008 was warm, and the next month the whole sky fell in the form of snow. November 1995 another example, much warmer than '08 and that winter turned out to be amusing to an extent.
  15. Even here so far I haven't had anything significant in March yet. When it snows, pretty garden variety. Some lows in the 20's but compared to the rest of my winter, it's a temperate month. It can sometimes be an exact copy of April in Klamath if the correct pattern comes along. (except 2016, hugely anomalous April LOL)
  16. The last time I actually mentally prepared for something that panned out the way I wanted was June 4 2009. Wow. The memory train. Ever since then, preparing brings bust. And models no longer hold onto stuff longer than 24 hours anymore.... (Dec 2008 and the severe t'storms were on models like forever before they happened!!). I remember we were discussing the June storms back in late May and every day after school was another ride for me.
  17. A massive 21 days that had highs below average in October 2016. Highs in the first week of October... 10/01: 59 (-12) 10/02: 47 (-23) 10/03: 45 (-25) 10/04: 52 (-17) 10/05: 52 (-17) 10/06: 59 (-10) 10/07: 70 (+2)
  18. I just crunched October 2016 comparing to normal at KLMT. October 2016 High = 1787 = 57.6 (-5.3)October 2016 Low = 1065 = 34.4 (+3.3)October 2016 Mean = 2852 = 46.0 (-1.0) It actually would have been anomalously cold if I didn't have as many rainy days. The avg low ended up being +3.3. That was a really interesting month looking at the numbers.
  19. I was definitely cooler than normal in October here in Klamath, but not very anomalous. Not Nov 2010 kind of cold.
  20. And then watch there be a short period of lows in the teens and below 10 last several days of the month, and 500-1000 ft. snow levels. Kiss record November goodbye
  21. That would depend on the majority of November being anomalous. But I could imagine it being top 10 or low tier top 5 warmest. A bit early to tell though.
  22. The front is pretty good in SW Oregon, so I wonder what it looks like on KRTX. We'll never know. A part of me has died.
