  1. March looks to come in like a Lion this year out West....Tahoe anyone? If the storm pans out as strong as I'm thinking during the 3/2 - 3/5 period, it should bring down one of the colder airmass's of the season down into the Valley. The west is going to be blessed with White Gold next month.
  2. Of course, my family back home had to post videos of the snow falling last night...they know me well! On the other side of the country, this is why I moved here...#Sunshine
  3. The CFSv2 is trending far far away from any meaningful MAR cold or snow for the eastern CONUS. I feel bad for Bastardi who is really hoping a cold MAR saves his forecast. Looks very likely that my area in the 4 corners will STEAL the Snow. Come out west for the Best Snow! ]
  4. The JMA weeklies, that have been so reliable in the past, have also struggled mightily this season. They did latch onto the JAN cold wave but have really busted for FEB and also now it appears for MAR. Time to move into Spring weather season. Week 2... Temp...Torchy Week 3-4... Temp...
  5. This is why if it snows next week across the MW/GL's, it wouldn't really appeal to me bc in 3 days it'll all be gone as a massive ridge surges blossoms over the heartland....I'll be rooting for MSP to score a Snowstorm so that they can beat ORD in the seasonal totals...not sure where they stand, I'd think this storm could cut it close... Winter... Back to Spring...
  6. Time to Flip the Script to Spring my friend...the way this Winter has crapped out, I'd be more excited to see 70's and that "Spring Smell" in the air...I just read that the trees are budding wayyy to early this year back in Chi. Not sure if that is good or bad bc we know a Freeze is in the cards soon enough.
  7. The SW Ridge has been rock solid the last few days but today it'll weaken some allowing for the system hitting the west coast over the last couple days to track up and over the ridge. Not expecting much here in the valley...maybe a brief shower. Nevertheless, Spring has pretty Sprung out here in the Valley of the Sun. The vegetation is growing and animal life has pretty much awoken from the depths of Winter. It's wonderful to hear the sounds of nature early in the morning that gather around the fountain with the various ducks, birds, etc. Every once in a while, I hear Owl's "hooting" and communicating to their friends across the city! I picked some wonderful grapefruit the other day as the fruit trees are pretty much ripe with lemons, oranges, etc. More 80's in the forecast this weekend...Spring Training will be in Full Gear! The Valley is going to be very busy this next month!
  8. Well, there's always next year and the looks of a central based Moderate La Nina is in the cards....
  9. March should provide some atmospheric fireworks...pretty good signal for an eventful Heartland...
  10. High Pressure is in full control this entire long weekend...highs will approach 80F by Mon & Tue of next week and upper 70's over the weekend with light winds. Can't ask for anything better this time of year when avg temps are 71F. Just blue skies and sunshine. Grass is growing and the landscape has begun to turn green. It's starting to feel like Spring is in the Air around these parts. The sun is setting past 6pm (6:13pm) as the days are getting longer ever so slowly. Our pool is packed with all the snow birds that have flocked into the valley. I still have an itch to track one more Winter or Spring storm...we'll have to see how that shakes out, but in the meantime, I'm going to soak up the vibes in the "Valley of the Sun"!
  11. It’s like the PAC NW lately, right? Sad season for winter fans. I didn’t think it would have turned out to be such a dud month for a lot of the center part of the Nation.
  12. That's great to hear and the fact that both you and I moved to a new place and are enjoying the outcomes is kinda neat. I'm loving it out here and not missing it at all for the lackluster winter back in Chicago.
  13. You might be one of the only members in our Sub that could still be in a somewhat "winter-like" pattern. Lot of ups and downs in temps but at least you may be getting hit by clippers and LES.
  14. I’m considering a Euro Trip this summer so I’ll definitely reach out and pick your brain. I’m a Big “foodie” and love Greek food. An old friend of mine is Greek and his Mom always made the biggest feast on holidays or B Days. Awesome times.
  15. Yes, Greece sounds real nice...Mykonos!
  16. I'd be feeling the same as you and likely making plans to leave for AZ if I were in your shoes. Sedona is a wonderful and serene place to visit and live. Are they snow birds?
  17. MAR can produce some big time storms so there is a window of opportunity to experience a Blizzard or two before this season is up...we will get storms to come into the 4 corners in early MAR so don't give hope if your in the Plains/Midwest!
  18. I'd be right with ya...maybe plan a trip to FL or somewhere south and at least get to enjoy some sunshine and warmth!
  19. The LR is highlighting a pattern where we saw a Massive Alaskan/Western U.S. trough inundate the country and that pattern appears likely to end FEB and open MAR. March coming in like a Lion around here and may very well be a time for me to start thinking about where to go to experience one more (or 2) winter storms. The JMA Weeklies pretty much reversed any real Winter pattern...Yikes...those of you yearning for Real Snow and Sledding...come out WEST! Week 2... Week 3-4...
  20. I have a serious question for you guys out East...How many of you are ready for Spring? How many of you are still interested in Ol' Man Winter making a comeback? The models in the LR the past few days looked abysmal and they pretty much do today. I remember the feeling rather well when I lived back in CHI seeing brown grass during the Winter and how badly it sucked. You get to the point late in the season where you are greedy bc light snow events didn't really excite me much bc you have to deal with a higher sun angle, rising, avg temps and you wanna see a Big Dog at least one time before you flip your mood towards Spring.
  21. The LR looks pretty darn depressing for anyone East of the Rockies after this weekend...I guess the West US stole winter as the PAC jet is just raging. It appears I'll have to deal with the storms later in the month and prob most of MAR. The Ski Season should be phenomenal for Spring Breakers in MAR. Heck, I might even plan a trip if I can manage to find a crew to come with. Heavenly in Lake Tahoe could be the epic destination.
  22. Happy Valentine's Day! Let's Share some love around the world today, whether it be to your loved one or just a friend...we need more love in this world. In the wx world, around here its a carbon copy for the foreseeable future. I'll send you all some sunshine on this Valentine's Day...Spring Break anyone??
  23. From Flagstaff, you can pretty much get anywhere you'd like and its right in your back yard. You'll get to experience all sorts of diverse weather up there and I know you love the weather like I do. The smell of the fresh pine is wonderful during the warm months!
  24. Nothing but sunny skies through the work week into the weekend...my kinda weather if ain't gonna storm! I'll try to take some clear photos of the snow capped mountains to my east with a back drop of the deep blue skies. I should have done it yesterday when I was driving back home from errands.
