  1. Started a thread for the "big one" next weekend/early next week. For now, I'll keep talking about the Thursday night shortwave in here.
  2. Okay, it's pretty certain at this point that this is going to happen and areas that desperately need moisture, are going to receive moisture whether it be rain or snow, so let's get a thread for this. I don't know how long it's been since I've seen a mean this wild on EPS this far out, about 10" over my area of MN and the first wave isn't set to hit for another week!
  3. Funny cuz GFS has actually appeared to come slightly north from past runs. At least the 06Z run is the first in the past day or so to actually give me WSW amounts. Side note: I will literally ask for nothing for Christmas if Euro comes to life. Holy hell.
  4. AFD from MPX: This is the first time that they have described the Thursday clipper as anything other than "light snow with mild impacts".
  5. Same deal here. On and off snow showers. The most recent burst was actually a decent one, lasted about 10 minutes and resulted in a slight bit of accumulation.
  6. So much fun! We're doing a loaded potato bar at my work this week in honor.
  7. Operational GFS hasn't been in line with its own ensembles for this storm at all. That has happened a couple of times this season and both of those times it ended up being a complete idiot. Maybe I'm just wishcasting (most ensemble members clobber me), but I don't think there's any way this storm digs as far south as the op GFS wants it to. Euro might actually win a storm this season for once.
  8. This might be the first time that I've actually been looking forward to how a weather pattern plays out this year. At the very least, most of the state of Minnesota should see the drought get eaten into quite a bit over the next 10 days.
  9. Well this would be a legit blizzard for me if it played out.
  10. Lincoln gets 30" from the next weekend storm on this latest GFS run!!
  11. @hawkstwelveHope you're ready for your 42" storm, according to GFS.
  12. That's the actual cringe part of that. I can get past the misspellings.
  13. Another day, another nearly bone-dry run for the global models. But hey, at least the GFS is showing an absolute whopper 2 weeks out. I'd be VERY worried that the world is collapsing if it didn't.
  14. I'm not sure if a Republican will finally win Minnesota, but holy sh!t, the DFL party here is trying so hard to make that happen by suddenly pretending we're even farther left than California. Add "proposing a bill to prosecute people as juveniles until 21" to the list, which includes "making a ceasefire in Gaza the NUMBER ONE TOPIC in city council meetings", "becoming a sanctuary state", "virtue signaling gun legislation to ban things that are already banned", "puberty blockers at 12 years old without parental consent", and "defunding the police". If the nominee weren't Trump (thanks again, MAGAs!), I'd be 100% sure we'd see a Republican victory in Minnesota come November with the DFL party failing to stay in their lane here. I love many things about Minnesota, but the politics here are an absolute joke.
  15. NAM is... Interesting for here. Of course the NAM should never be trusted at the very end of its run.
  16. Definitely seeing daily fire risk here now. And no moisture in sight, still. But hey, at least I can always count on the GFS to show a massive rager of a storm 2 weeks out!
  17. But if any Republican is going to win the state, I think it's this year. The iron range is red now. While the TCs suburbs have shifted blue, I think they are still swing votes especially given the circus that has been the Biden presidency.
  18. Many of those (don't know how many) were protest votes in support of Palestine.
  19. I'm lucky enough to live in a Super Tuesday state. I went ahead and voted for Haley as I've always promised. I doubt it matters at this point, but at least I get to take the moral high ground and say "well I TRIED to keep Trump out of the general election through legal means..."
  20. This has turned into a pretty serious "we NEED moisture" type thing. I've complained about dry air with storm systems a LOT this season, and it's really biting now. The entire state is in a drought. The LotW area looks to be getting a decent wet snowfall tomorrow. Even that won't add up to too much, and neither of the global models gives anywhere else in the state more than a 0.3" of moisture up to the end of their respective runs. This entire winter has been more reminiscent of Central Kansas than Minnesota basically across the state, which 1) is obnoxious and 2) we have way too many trees for that. Fire season is gonna be not great if this continues into April and May.
  21. I'm not surprised. I knew it would be unanimous. I did think their reasoning was interesting (it's a federal issue, not a state issue), but the potential ramifications of an opposite ruling would have been extremely damaging.
  22. Dry air splitting the moisture in half, around my house, as scheduled! This winter is obnoxious lol
