Wouldn't be surprised to crack 50 here which is insane. Usually in this area of the country, temps that warm are immediately succeeded by a powerful cold front. This is just consistent warmth. Makes me wonder how trees are going to react.

I hardly think we're going to see a "harsh return of winter" in February. Best case scenario, we regress to the mean and enter a more active storm pattern (I think the latter will for sure happen). There is just no cold air in Canada to work with.

There are very few sociopolitical issues I actually care about, but abortion is definitely up there. I genuinely do not know how they have convinced themselves that they have the moral high ground here.

A lot or all of that snow cover even in Northern MN/ND will be going away with this thaw. I worry about ptype with a potential storm in the first week of February. Not the type of worry I should be having in West Central MN at that time of year, but alas...

Wow, that was a blindside. I actually thought that he was running a stronger campaign than Haley in recent weeks. He mopped the floor with her in debates. I actually think this could boost Haley. I think everyone that is going to vote for Trump in the primaries was voting for Trump to begin with. There were a fair share of never Trumpers in the DeSantis camp and they should shift to Haley. I dunno, maybe I'm being a Haley weenie here, and I still think a Trump nom is inevitable, but I think this helps more than hurts. It's best that it be 1v1 (Vivek hardly counts anymore and I don't think anyone knows who else is still in the race besides those 3).

Ensembles are actually consistent in pushing this death ridge out of the way near the end of their respective runs. Overall, it does look like we could see a pattern shift around the second week of February. Still a depressing pattern to be entering, but for now, it does appear that there is finally a faint light at the end of the tunnel and we could see a return of Winter in February. Best it comes then, I think the general consensus is that by March everyone is longing for Spring.

At least during the seemingly endless warm December, EPS weeklies sort of hinted at a pullback of some sort in the second week of January (which happened). Now, it's just a constant endless eastern trough and split flow between the mountain ranges. Just looks terrible and we may not have a shot at more winter until March.

I just watched the debate from a few days ago for the first time. I'll say this: As much as I want Haley to be the nominee, it feels like she was on defense for most of the debate, especially on the abortion issue. DeSantis said all of the right things. It was a horrible debate for Haley. Dare I say she paralleled some of Hillary's terrible qualities. They just need to quit bringing up Trump in these debates. He's hurting himself, and only himself, by not showing up. Stop worrying about him.
