  1. The most intense drive I have ever been apart of. Needed to take my family to the in-laws 20 miles away. Well we have a 3 mile stretch out of town that is treeless and open land for miles. Visibility was zero that whole stretch and had to pull off. Luckily for us the gravel roads was much easier sledding… This is me parked at the 3 mile corner. There were cars and cops parked on the median and you cant see the lights!
  2. OAX might be getting excited about next week. Looking far ahead to next week, models remain consistent in showing another very strong winter storm Tuesday through Thursday. This storm system has the potential for very heavy snow and strong winds. Much more to come on this next big winter storm in the coming days.
  3. Long ways out but it's fun to note....GFS, EURO and CMC all have 1-2' of snow for parts of the central plains including me. Hard to believe that would happen so I guess will see!
  4. Euro with a record breaker for us if this came to fruition.
  5. The models are actually not in too bad of agreement being this far out. I just hope warm air doesn't ruin the fun for us!
  6. This run the SLP retrogrades; if that happens someone would get walloped with snow.
  7. Good luck and enjoy! You guys are going to get buried! P.S. looks like the Euro wins out again; at least in my area!!
  8. Holy smokes some big hits on there! That's crazy to see a mean that high this far out.
  9. True blizzard conditions out there! Holy cow east/west roads are terrifying. You go from 1/2 mile visibility, 1/4 mile then boom zero! IMG_0973.m4v
  10. My area got upgraded to a blizzard warning and we have them. Crazy how fast conditions changed; I went and picked up groceries and snow was just blowing. Then 10 minutes later snow moved in and visibility went down to 1/4 mile or less! The flash freeze turned the roads into a sheet of ice and the wind pushes your vehicle off the road. I can always tell how bad visibility is by looking out my back yard; the town elevator is 3 blocks away!
  11. Hands down the best winter and best winter storm came in 2009-2010. Two major blizzards one early in December and the next over X-mas. When things were all said and done my entire county had a 2 foot snow depth. The greatest in Hastings CWA at the time! My area seen a season's worth of snow in one month!
  12. I ended up with 7" but it might have been more if not for compaction! A person who lives north of town reported 8.1" for Hastings. The short range models and the foreign models nailed this storm for my area! The sliver of 6-8" showing up on the short range came to fruition. Very happy overall and hope this snow can stick around for a while!!
  13. View of my back yard. Shocked to say sitting at 4” of snow and hope to pick up another 2-4”! The Nam, euro, ukie and gdps model nailed that for me!
  14. Just look at the deformation band building right through the heart of central/eastern nebraska. Looks like it's lining up really well with the short term models!
  15. Eyeballing, but it looks like somewhere around 3" with additional snow to come. Looks like I might luck out and pick up a half a foot of snow!
  16. Do those include what has fallen or whats to come??
  17. Update by OAX, pockets of 6-7" is possible! ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Snow. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches with localized areas of 6 to 7 inches expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast and southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa. * WHEN...Until noon CST Saturday.
  18. This was from hastings this morning mentioning the ratios in our CWA So far this morning the highest snowfall totals of 2-3" were reported in the Cambridge, Wilsonville, Kearney and Minden areas, with varying liquid to snow ratios from 13:1 to 30:1.
  19. With that output you would think an upgrade to a warning would be coming!
  20. I think you and I will ride with the euro and ukie!!! Bring it!
  21. Well, my grid gives me warning snows! Today Snow. High near 34. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. Tonight Snow, mainly before midnight. Low around 25. Blustery, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
  22. yet another model showing a thin slice of 6-8" of snow for my area. Crazy to see that all models are showing a sliver of heavy snow coming right through my area!
  23. We have a game in Giltner tonight; that might be a problem! I always take a van and bring my varsity later but might not want to risk it if the roads are that bad out there already!
