  1. On a Taco Bell run. AC on full blast at almost 11:30 pm. Definitely the most miserable day of the year so far. Oh and it’s also my bday LOL.
  2. Today looks to be the first day of the heat wave over here. Already 87 with a heat index of 93 at the 10 am obs. Should make a run for 100 by the afternoon.
  3. The grass is already browning and it's probably going to be fried after this week. Also funny how it remains humid despite the lack of rain
  4. Looking at the forecast for the weekend into next week, it looks like summer is about to overstay its welcome
  5. Only .30" here this morning. Pretty shocking to see western parts of the state underwater while we're left mostly dry.
  6. I've noticed for most people it's the opposite, which is why a lot of Midwesterners go off to some retirement village in Florida or Arizona once the time comes. I like the cold, it's refreshing, but I make sure to wear a coat. I've noticed a lot of people (girls usually) who don't dress properly for the weather, but then complain about the cold.
  7. Dew points are generally in the 73-76 range in Eastern NE with temps in the 90s. Not complaining too much since it took until almost July to get this bad.
  8. I got a PWS as a Christmas gift several years ago and had to leave it at my parents once I came to Lincoln since I've lived in dorms or apartments. I recently moved into a house though so maybe I can get it up here one day.
  9. Even down to Mississippi looks to have highs in the upper 70s with sunshine next week. It's hard to get afternoon temps like that in June unless its pouring rain.
  10. I had nothing to do today so I decided to go down and check out Indian Cave State Park in the southeast corner of the state. A lot of areas were closed (including the cave) due to flooding but there was still a lot of trails available. You can see the water taking over the road and theres also a picnic area underwater. I liked it overall. It's a pretty place and even the drive there is green, rolling hills (especially south of NE City), not quite fitting the flat Nebraska stereotype. Hopefully I can make it back after the cave reopens again.
  11. Interstate 29 has once again closed down to St. Joseph due to flooding. It had just reopened a few weeks ago after the March floods.
  12. Not much in the way of rain today like expected, very scattered in nature. Not like we need it terribly anyway and there's more chances to come this week. Sure is chilly and windy though. My roommate's hometown is Gering, NE and he posted on his Snapchat story of snow in his yard this morning. Yikes.
  13. The harsh winter did end rather abruptly once the March 10-13 floods/thaw hit. Compared to last year when April was well below average with multiple snowfalls.
  14. I probably won’t be in Nebraska forever, but if I do move away at some point I could see myself coming back. Ive definitely loved my time here though and get “homesick” when I’m visiting my family in Mississippi. Lincoln is a great place to live, but I feel bad for anyone visiting LOL. On the other end of the spectrum, I’d love to visit NYC one day, but could never live there.
  15. D****T, not another Nebraska poster! Good luck in Ohio though, sad to see you go. I guess I'll have to change my name to LNK_Weather now. Jk lol. But yeah, the Lakes are definitely favored in winter more often than Nebraska even though Toledo is on the wrong side of the lake for LES.
  16. May 2013 was another level for sure. Down to Fayetteville, Arkansas and surrounding areas recieved 1-3”, first May snow in history. I was still in NW MS at the time and remember having low 40s and heavy rain in the middle of the afternoon and frost the next morning, May might as well be summer in that area. And of course the Omaha/Lincoln areas recieved 2-4” of wet snow.
  17. That came out of nowhere, I was working on an assignment and took my eyes off the radar for maybe an hour lol
  18. First 90s of the season are popping up in parts of the state
  19. Good thing it's still super windy or else I might forget I'm in Nebraska
  20. Snow flurries are flying on this cold windy April night
  21. We briefly had small hail at UNL for a couple minutes. I appreciate thunderstorms a lot more after a real winter, I'm enjoying it.
  22. I just saw a flash of lightning, don’t remember the last time I saw that.
