2/14-2/17 Possible Winter Storm Train

Yikes, not like the last minute SW trend for tomorrow. It's getting pretty late in the game now though so I guess just pray. -

OAX Grids have "heavy snow" wording in the forecast tomorrow for Lincoln. With high ratios and low winds, this may be KLNK's best shot at a 6"+ event all winter. Funny since it's barely a storm and more like a moderate clipper passing through quickly. -

Well that's a certainly a unique scenario that would make Lincoln people thrilled and Omaha people jump off a cliff. Don't know of a storm that's given Lincoln nearly 6" and Omaha nothing. -

It's Euro/Ukie/kinda GFS vs. NAM. Usually it's the opposite and NAM is too wet. Overall not too much change since NAM was barely in range yesterday. It will be really disappointing if NAM is leading the way. -

I was about to come on here and tell everyone not to look at the NAM. Too late! lol -

12z runs continue to be encouraging. Back to back systems with no warm up in sight. Let's see how we can screw this up -
Got about 1.25" today. Enough to cover the grass at least. Hopefully one of these systems in the near future works out, but it seems like the trend lately has been storms drying out the closer it gets.

Snowing cotton balls now. Screw you HRRR lol.

If there's actually moisture with this thing at least it should be pure snow. Sleet a few days ago, sleet this morning, and probably sleet tomorrow. -
off topic- but how do you pay your bills?
snowstorm83 replied to Grizzcoat's topic in East of the Rockies
I'm a student at UNL. Luckily, my parents pay for rent at my apartment. I have a part time at the UNL alumni center where I call alumni for updates etc. but mostly for donations lol. People get mad at me/cuss at me sometimes, but it's easy to laugh at and move on. I'm also majoring in meteorology, which is kind of rocky. I'm not the best at math, so I've taken calc 2 twice and currently in calc 3. Hopefully once I get over the math hump it'll improve. -

A bit late, but how did LNK get 2.2" lol. I barely had 1". Not complaining though since they usually under measure. -
GEFS looks nice for most of NE. Wouldn't throw in the towel quite yet.

Yeah it's coming down quite nicely too. Need to avoid radar returns because apparently that means sleet -

Lol. Starting snowing lightly, and the heavier it got, the more sleet mixed in. Probably 80% sleet at this point. -

Just noticed that. If it holds together, I hope it's not pulling in warm air or something and falls as sleet. Only wondering since mixed precipitation is falling at such cold temps not too far south of here. -

Saw a post from NWS Wichita saying that Great Bend, KS is getting thunder sleet at 18 degrees. -

It has picked up in the last 30-45 min. Grass is covered. -

Steady light snow/flurries all day, but it's only added up to less than inch. Should be a good base for the main event tonight at least. -

Euro is better here for about 2-3" but we waste some QPF on lame freezing rain. -

January 2019 Observations and Discussion
snowstorm83 replied to Minny_Weather's topic in East of the Rockies
Hastings NWS posted a snowfall map for the month of January, which shows very little snow north and west of Omaha and Lincoln. Not going to try to post it since half the people can't see when I post pics lol. But Nebraska City is definitely the big winner, receiving 10-12" in the same 2 storms that gave Omaha and Lincoln 4-6". -
CPC actually predicting a below normal February for most of the sub forum. It'll get cold again after the brief warm up but unfortunately also dry here.
