  1. More record warmth in BC yesterday Weather summary for British Columbia issued by Environment Canada at 4:48 a.m. PDT Monday 25 March 2024. Discussion. The following areas will have set a daily maximum temperature record on March 24, 2024: BURNS LAKE AREA Preliminary new record of 12.5 Old record of 12.2 set in 1992 Records in this area have been kept since 1949 DEASE LAKE AREA Preliminary new record of 11.0 Old record of 9.4 set in 2019 Records in this area have been kept since 1944 MACKENZIE AREA Preliminary new record of 11.2 Old record of 10.0 set in 1987 Records in this area have been kept since 1971 PEMBERTON AREA Preliminary new record of 19.1 Old record of 18.5 set in 1979 Records in this area have been kept since 1908 SMITHERS AREA Preliminary new record of 15.0 Old record of 11.6 set in 2006 Records in this area have been kept since 1938 TERRACE AREA Preliminary new record of 15.7 Old record of 15.0 set in 1915 Records in this area have been kept since 1912
  2. Wow. Beautiful. Andrew says that sunrise is a blessing.
  3. It looks pretty dry down in Tim’s backyard. Deformation band has been just sitting up north all day.
  4. The craziest part of the story, was that you weren’t even driving a Tesla when you lost control and went airborne. 0.6” of rain today so far.
  5. Not much point in worrying about it, can’t do much at this point. Current indicators show BC is in a bad place heading into fire season, but a wet june could always swing things in a more positive direction. Last years drought compounded by the March 1st snowpack being the 2nd lowest in BC in the past 50 years, are obviously bad signs. And if we use the 2010 season analog that has been brought up, 2010 was an active fire season in BC, worst in 12 years I believe.
  6. Over 100 wildfires in Canada have continued to burn though the winter. Which is kind of crazy but also pretty common on these large fires once they start burning into the organic material underground. I also saw a report that for the first time in history, Canada had worse air quality than the US in 2023. Almost entirely smoke related.
  7. I see after all these years the weather preference cleansing continues.
  8. Can’t imagine how silly those anomalies would have looked without the January cold wave in western Canada.
  9. Environment Canada says this was the warmest winter on record for Canada. Averaging 9.4F above normal.
  10. You hadn’t had 2 weeks of consecutive snow cover in nearly a decade . That’s pretty pathetic. We definitely have better winters here.
  11. WOW. Record smashing Weather summary for British Columbia issued by Environment Canada at 5:46 p.m. PDT Sunday 17 March 2024. Discussion. 12. 68 here. Will probably be short of yesterday’s 71F
  13. Sounds nasty. Cooling stations and air conditioning helps.
  14. My puke emoji is on behalf of Jesse. I think he may be hibernating now.
  15. Most of central BC is under an air quality advisory for blowing dust as the drought in BC intensifies.
  16. Seems like this ridge has been centered a little more to the north. Some of the records in central and northern BC were 5-8F above their previous records yesterday. And many of those records were pre 1950, so a short POR won’t account for the historic nature of the airmass. Dawson Creek is currently the hot spot in all of Canada at 68F and that is pretty far to the north.
  17. Gem had a snow event up here a week from tonight, as well
  18. Even if it does snow this time of year there’s no need to plow. It’ll be gone by the afternoon.

  20. I remember someone a couple days ago was mocking Mark Nelsen for having 77F on his 7 day forecasts.
  21. Good lord. Mid 60s to low 70s. Hopefully everyone is staying hydrated during this heat emergency
