  1. This webcam is on the south Shawnigan Lake road. We have nothing here at the north end. That area was bare and wet 45 min ago
  2. Absolutely demonic snowfall rates happening just south of me. I’d be more annoyed if it was still winter. Heard reports the cells over southern Vancouver island dropped up to 1” of hail in parts of Langford earlier That band turned to Snow as it lifted north
  3. We just had a decent ice pellet shower with a few flakes at the end. No thunder though.
  4. Hmmm. Some warmer and some colder than the mean. We will have to keep a close eye on that.
  5. Just 37F here with overcast skies. Looking like this will easily be the coolest day of this stretch.
  6. I had some graupel just now too. It was amazing
  7. Surely he could move somewhere with a little elevation without having to completely overhaul his work/family situation. He almost has to do it for his sanity.
  8. I assume Jim’s area got shut out as well. Poor guy, really set himself up for disappointment with this set up. He absolutely has to move.
  9. A little mesoscale low spins over the olympics later today. Some deformation on the north side and little northerly flow tonight as the low departs. No idea if it’s going to verify but you could see something later today. WRF is usually a little to generous with precip amounts in these setups IMO.
  10. Wow. Looking good for awhile longer too. Don’t forget to take photos!
  11. You keep trying to get his hopes up. Hopefully he gets something this time. Looks like a little low is trying to form near Victoria. Another one is spinning itself out north of Vancouver
  12. I think you’ll see some tonight. Higher elevations could do well over there. Picked up 1/2” here but I think the precip is finished already
  13. Snowing here now. Already starting to stick. Doesn’t look like it’ll last long.
  14. Yea I’m not sure if this would have played out much differently in the heart of winter. Perhaps daytime highs might have been a degree or 2 cooler but most areas would have still seen like 40/33 type days and been dependent on steady precip to drop sticking snow levels to the surface. SeaTac has only seen 0.7” of liquid over the last few days. Even in December there would likely have never been more than a couple inches of snow on the ground.
  15. Yea. Some areas from Duncan and north are doing okay this afternoon. Temps have cooled here this afternoon with a north breeze. I’d bet we see a quick hit of snow this evening before things dry out.
  16. Yea there is nothing on the ground here even up above 1000ft. This webcam is 1100ft elevation. Interesting to note, there is a subdivision at the top of the ridge in the background. I’m guessing it’s probably around 1500ft. Maybe a bit more. I think it’s the highest elevation area on Vancouver island with a housing development.
  17. No snow pics from me today. Just a rainy afternoon walk in the forest.
  18. It’s not unusual to get depths over 18”here and the most I’ve ever seen is 38” in December 96. Years with over 18” that come to mind are Jan 2005, Nov 2007, Dec 2007, Dec 2008, Jan 2009, Feb 2017, Feb 2019, Jan 2020, Feb 2021. It is interesting that we basically always get all of our snow before March and you just seem to start piling it on come March.
  19. Looks like there might be some deformation setting up just to the NW of Duncan, with that small Low spinning towards southern Vancouver island right now. Some flakes are mixing in around 1000ft towards Lake Cowichan but it isn’t sticking yet. This would have been an ideal low placement if we had any Fraser Outflow. We would likely be getting absolutely crushed right now if that had happened
  20. Increasing sun angles and the thought of that first horrifying 80 degree afternoon weigh heavily on his mind this time of year.
  21. Yea that’s my fear as well. Kind of due for a huge zonal flow winter with massive mountain snow.
  22. Looks like the last little meso low slowly crosses Vancouver island. Might have one last chance for a some snow tonight. Parts of SW BC could do well with this.
