Drove out to Ocean Shores to see family today. Amazing summer like drive and being out on the Jetty when the front rolled in was a memorable experience. We really need to do a coastal meetup when we get the next decadal storm.

Sound like a great idea, count me in. We’re due for another Columbus Day Storm. Maybe we can all meet there and do some storm chasing! 💨 🚐

Wow!  One of the craziest shifts from strong offshore flow to strong onshore flow I've seen.  Nearly 20 degree plunge already at Shelton in the middle of the day and strong SW winds here after east all day.  Nice 850mb plunge with this as well.

Snowing in the Olympic 🏔️ as well! 🥶

    Winds are howling here currently!
53 degrees, DP 26, RH 35%! Pretty rare to have such a stretch of this dry warm air in April!

It’s due to the cool/cold air heading east of the Cascades/Rockies. I love this pattern in April because it produces strong east winds and sunshine all the way out to the beaches! 🏖️ 🏝️ 🌞

Currently 62 degrees with a DP of 29.

    RH is at 27%

The warm dry offshore flow was able to make it to the 🏖️ today. Hoquiam was able to get to 68 like SEA. Down here Astoria and Tillamook made it up to 72. PDX got to 71 for a +8 high departure but well off the record pace of 89 set back 8 years ago. Another beautiful day across the region. 🌞😎

    I’m probably biased.

Looks like Aug and Jan have the ugliest trends up there.

    IMG_7073.jpeg

June also for Southwestern Oregon. Does this data include the June 2021 heatwave? My guessing is if we do another 30-Year Trend in the next decade or so then the pink will slowly creep north towards Western Oregon and Washington with June trending the warmest.

Another thing I noticed is in parts of Alaska, February is the warmest. That makes sense because over the past 30 years we have had some big time February Arctic Blast here in the PNW while there is big ridging in Alaska. In my opinion this trend might also continue and the February will slowly overtake October as the month trending the warmest up in Alaska.

If my hypothesis is correct then that means Spring will become shorter and shorter as Winter ends later than usual and Summer beings earlier. 🍿

Almost 2 years worth of rain in Dubai today.

Imagine if North Bend saw 200” of rain in a day.

That may have added to it, but the setup was ripe to produce heavy rainfall regardless.

I’ve generally been unimpressed w/rt evidence of effectiveness of cloud seeding. Seems to make more of a difference in marginal situations as opposed to setups ripe for deep convection and heavy rain.

Just saw the radar loop. That’s as impressive as it gets. I saw reports of over 6 inches. Looks like the Dubai government said there wasn’t any cloud seeding missions during the storm. They have done it in the past though. I’m not a fan of cloud seeding or any other weather intervention done by man. We need to let Mother Nature run its course.

“DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The National Center of Meteorology, a government task force responsible for cloud seeding missions in the United Arab Emirates, said it had not carried out the weather modification technique in the run-up to the heavy storms that caused flooding in places like Dubai.

The organization told CNBC that it did not dispatch pilots for seeding operations before or during the storm that struck the UAE on Tuesday.”

Our state is jumping right into things. The Washington Department of Ecology declared a drought emergency for nearly the entire state.  They say we had a very dry winter, which we did.  They say we have low snow pack and it's diminishing fast.  “There is simply not enough water contained in mountain snow and reservoirs to prevent serious impacts for water users in the months ahead.”

According to WA Ecology, statewide snowpack stands at 68% as of Tuesday, with some areas — including the Olympic Mountains, Lower Yakima and the north Sound — registering “significantly lower.”

“Streamflows in many basins are already below 75% of normal,” Ecology wrote. “Forecasts for April through September have Chelan River streamflows at 52% of normal, while the Stehekin, Methow and Okanagan rivers are forecasted to have 59% of normal streamflows.”

Most of Washington is not in a drought. But it’s okay for them to be proactive if they think more drought conditions will come throughout the warm season.

I like my Model Y. I’ve had it for 4 months. I’ve never used the Tesla charging stations so can’t comment on those. They are starting to install chargers on residential streets in Seattle attached to the power poles, those are going to be on every block eventually.

Would never buy that monstrosity that is a Cybertruck. It’s too bad that Tesla is headed to the toilet after so much promise. The smaller Rivian that looks like a Subaru is going to fly off the shelves when it is released.  Hopefully BYD starts selling cars in North America soon as well.

I mean, unlike you, I don't hate America, so I hope BYD doesn't sell cars in the United States without a proper review from the WTO.

I've got a Model S, it drives great, plenty fast, and a 10% to 80% charge takes about 15 minutes at a Supercharger. Charging at home means that I rarely have to think about range, but when I have to during a road trip, I hit about 400 miles.

While I don't agree with your stance that Mao was actually a great guy or that America would be a much better nation had the Wobblies lynched Bill Boeing (again, your views, not mine), I do agree with you that the Cybertruck looks like garbage. Well, that one giant a** wiper blade, cheap interior, and carrot shaving edges. Looking forward to the company getting a new CEO one day soon.

I like the Model Y but that’s one of the reasons I’m leaning towards the Model S. It can go 405 miles on 🔋 .

One of these?   Someone in North Bend has one and people keep posting pics of it on FB in different parking lots around town.

That’s their Cybertruck model. It’s very unique looking 👀 probably why it catches everyone’s attention. Maybe that’s what the intent is. I’m planning to just get a sedan, likely the Model S.

I only have EVs and recently had to fill up a gas tank on a trip. It felt so archaic. Like going to a Blockbuster or something.

I’m more of a Tesla fan. I currently don’t have an EV but plan to get one in the next couple years. Maybe once they build more charging stations.

Went to the local beach on Whitefish Lake today.  People swimming, boating, beaching, and vibing.  In April.  In Montana.  I feel like we're going to pay dearly for this bliss come August. 🫠

That looks like heaven! Looks like people are already sunbathing soaking up the Vitamin D 🌞. I need to plan a trip up there sometime this summer.
