  1. Another official heatwave for PDX and many other locations today! 3rd one of the month for PDX. The latest EURO and GFS model runs show we are saving the best for last as temperatures get into the triple digits this week. Here is what the 18z GFS shows this weekend. I hope everybody is enjoying the sun! http://maps1.pivotalweather.com/maps/models/gfs/2018072418/126/sfct.us_nw.png
  2. The 00z UKMET brings scorching heat next weekend. http://img.meteocentre.com/models/ukmet_amer_00/GZ_D5_PN_144_0000.gif
  3. PDX back into the 90s! The 12z EURO today had PDX staying in the 90s all the way through the end of the month with the hottest temperatures coming this weekend.
  4. Yeah I always forget where exactly SEA is located in Puget Sound. The 105 reading looks more towards Tacoma.
  5. Probably a good chance of at least one day getting into the triple digits. The coolest location around PDX Metro from an anomaly standpoint so far in July has been MMV and the 12z EURO showed next weekend getting into the triple digits. http://oi67.tinypic.com/9zyouq.jpg
  6. The 12z EURO isn't backing down from giving us an extended heatwave to close out the month of July. Here are the highs for both OLM and PDX starting tomorrow through 7/30. OLM: 88/92/91/94/96/95/98/97/96 PDX: 92/93/92/96/97/96/99/98/95
  7. Glad to see you back posting. When you come, it's a sign that colder weather is close by. Going to be an exciting Fall and Winter ahead!
  8. I like seeing the amplification of the ridge and in turn sending colder than normal air this time of year further south. For something more specific you can track then I would use snow_wizard's NPS index this Fall.
  9. Been colder the past 2 days then I was expecting. Luckily the heat looks ready to come back this weekend and stay here for at least 1 week, likely longer. The 12z EURO shows highs close to triple digits on Tuesday and Wednesday for PDX. At day 10 it looks like ridging isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
  10. If there was an UHI yesterday would have been warmer, forecast high was in the upper 70s. Once again you are lying and twisting people's words. I never said it would be as cold and snowy as 1968-69. Just the coldest and snowiest since that winter. Big difference.
  11. The 00z EURO run last might makes me excited for winter already. Tremendous amplification of the ridge up into Alaska sending very cold anomalies into Southern Canada. This is a winter type pattern so for us to see it this early is a good sign for what's coming later this year. We just need the ridge to amplify more west and we will have a very cold and snowy winter here in the PNW.
  12. I doubt it. The EURO almost always has been too cold with the highs since April for PDX. It was way off yesterday. The UHI exist but it's been overblown and yesterday it had no effect on the highs IMHO.
  13. Looks like PDX only got to 72 for a -10 high departure today. Models had PDX in the upper 70s. I'm very surprised by this especially since everybody has been saying the heat has been exaggerated because of the UHI. This just shows you PDX can still get negative anomalies even in the heart of summer, the pattern just has to be right. High temperatures should be close to 30 degrees warmer in about a week.
  14. The 12z EURO trended warmer for the middle of next week. For PDX it's showing the heatwave starting on Sunday with Monday and Tuesday getting into the mid 90s. Then Wednesday to Saturday it's showing upper 90s/close to 100. July is going to finish the hottest on record here for PDX now.
  15. It's mostly scrub grass and wheat fields. The wheat fields are how these farmers make a living so it's not looking good for them at the moment.
  16. It looks like they are suspecting arson as the cause of the wildfire. After what happened last year with the Columbia River Gorge fire, it continues to amaze me how irresponsible people are. This one is even worse than last year because this would have been intentional. If it is arson they need to find the person(s) and hopefully bring them to justice. An innocent man lost his life in all of this. "During a press conference Thursday morning, when asked about the cause of the Substation Fire, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown told a reporter, "clearly, you're hearing there is a likelihood of arson, and our agencies are going to help in that investigation." After the press conference ended, KGW reporter Tim Gordon spoke to Oregon Assistant State Fire Marshal Mariana Ruiz-Temple and Doug Grafe, the Fire Protection Division Chief with the Oregon Department of Forestry, and both confirmed that local law enforcement agencies are investigating the fire as suspected arson." https://www.kgw.com/mobile/article/news/local/deadly-wildfire-near-the-dalles-being-investigated-as-suspected-arson/283-574914450
  17. Looks like the wildfire near The Dallas has grown to over 50,000 acres and expected to increase by tonight. The good news is that the winds are suppose to die down by tomorrow so hopefully they can make progress. "THE DALLES, OR (KPTV) - Crews responding to the wildfire burning near The Dalles are expecting a busy day with similar weather conditions as Wednesday as they try to get a handle on the growing fire. Officials provided an update on the Substation Fire Thursday morning and said the fire remained at more than 50,000 acres, but they expect it to increase by the evening." http://www.kptv.com/story/38684614/deadly-substation-fire-remains-at-more-than-50k-acres-cause-under-investigation
  18. We just had 6 straight days of 90+ highs here at PDX. Well the 00z EURO says get ready for another round of it. Starting on Sunday it's showing 6 straight days of 90+ weather for PDX. Monday gets close to triple digits. Another extended heatwave is on the way.
  19. You've seen me post here for years. Yeah I did it last night as well but fixed it after I posted. I get too excited and I want to post the information right away that I forget what run it is. You should of known I already knew what 00z meant when I said yesterday the temperatures it showed were for 5pm.
  20. Yeah I know that. No need to explain it to me. It was a typo.
  21. The 00z GFS not backing down from the extreme heat next week. Starting on Sunday it's showing 8 straight days of 90+ weather with Monday and Tuesday getting into the triple digits. Gets into the upper 90s next Friday and Saturday. It looks like we're headed into another extended heatwave.
