  1. Got some thunder rolling across the San Juans currently
  2. We've got a county-wide power outage up here since 5pm. They estimate it will be restored sometime around 10pm.
  3. Some views from today - about 1000' up Mt. Pickett on the E side of Orcas. Got a few turns in! Looking SE towards Sinclair Island... Looking NE towards Lummi and Bellingham. Doggo
  4. 16 degrees and the snow just ended...
  5. Looks like winter is back on the menu!
  6. I guess winter was cancelled for San Juan County?
  7. Sitting at 25.0 now. 10 degree drop in 2.5 hours...
  8. Temp has dropped from 34.5 to 31.4 in the last half hour here.
  9. 33 degrees and light snow/graupel out here on the east side of Orcas. Temperature dropping slightly...
  10. 35 degrees and light rain all day so far up on Orcas. Wish it would just snow already...
  11. From the far east side of Orcas Island: the wind is switching over to southerly just now and the temp has risen from 33 to 36 in the last hour. We had a solid dusting of snow earlier which has melted off now. The wind is really starting to pick up... All told, I got some big fat flakes and some good wind, so I'm happy.
  12. Only way to town. ferry, emergency services, etc. Pt Lawrence Rd at Doe Bay, Orcas Island
  13. We just hit 7" for the storm total, 2.2" since midnight at Doe Bay on Orcas. The one road to town has apparently washed out this morning- right next to the resort. Lots of power outages across the islands but we still have power for now. Here are some pic from the stream on our property...
  14. Somehow I've got almost 3" in the bucket over the last 24-hrs here on the far east side of Orcas Island. Streams are overtopping banks and to quote Carl the Greenskeeper... "I don't think the heavy stuff is coming down for quite a while".
  15. Down to 29.8 degrees here in Deer Harbor. Being just off the water it's tough to get below freezing, and being right off a tidal lagoon, it helps considerably when the tide is out - like right now. I'll see the temp increase tonight as the tide comes in.
  16. There is a saying that you need to have three houses or three jobs in order to live in the San Juans.
  17. Lost power around midnight in the San Juans - still working on restoring it.
  18. Up there all the time. It has snowed a few times, the road was closed after the wet and wild snow day for a short time. Craving a solidly cold Fraser outflow that the old timers tell me about.
  19. Getting some mid 30s gusts up here in the San Juans. Forecast to pick up a bit too. No power on Shaw and most of Orcas.
  20. Down to 33.4 at the house on Orcas. 1.7" of precip and climbing. Rain/snow mix currently but starting so accumulate some slush.
