  1. May has turned out to be pretty normal weather wise here in the Plains. Temperatures were pretty wild, with large swings from week to week. We also saw a couple of decent severe weather outbreaks, with several tornadoes. Looking ahead to June, it appears the models are picking up on a possible severe weather outbreak for the first few days of the month. June 2nd appears to be the biggest day, with Nebraska taking the brunt of the storms. Latest GFS has over 3 inches of rain! Let's hope this ends up happening! Lot of time for this to change. Thoughts?
  2. Will the active pattern of late April carry into May? How will May shape up for Severe Weather in the plains? I'm thinking late May will become pretty active. I think the pattern of late April will cycle back through at the end of May, and look out. Thoughts?
  3. There is the strong possibility of a Severe Weather Outbreak across the great plains this Saturday and Sunday. CAPE is high and shear will be high as well. This possibility comes with a very strong low pressure system that will come out of the desert southwest. It appears there will be a strong Cap during the day on Saturday, which may help to limit thunderstorm initiation. If the cap breaks on Saturday, severe storms are a high possibility. It appears Texas to Kansas will be the area of highest risk. Moisture is progged to be sufficient for good storm development and severe weather. It could be a very interesting weekend of weather! Thoughts?
  4. After a very boring and dry winter for the Central Plains, how will the first full month of Spring shape up? Will we finally see a change towards a wetter pattern? The first week of April will be a time to watch, as the LRC begins to favor a stormy pattern again. Here's to hoping we won't get shafted to the East once again. Thoughts?
  5. Will the state of Nebraska finally see a classic Snowstorm this season? We are long overdue for one. I don't think I ever remember a winter when we didn't get at least 1 big storm. All of our snow has been from little 2-4 inch systems. GFS hints at some really big snows for pretty much the entire state through the first week of March. I guess all we can do is wait and see if this is finally our time to shine! GFS snowfall through March 5th. Most of this falls during the 23rd through the 25th and again from the 28th through the 5th of March. Thoughts?
  6. There is a slight chance that the plains may see some snow during the month of February. Anybody see this happening? P.S. this is a thread to post frustrations about lack of snowfall.
