Looks like central Iowa is getting hit hard.  Based on flake size here today so far I would imagine when the decent returns finally get over top of us, the snow will accumulate at a decent clip.

Yes- system is over performing. 2.1" at KDSM through 5pm. have a legit shot at 4". Ratio is very high-- likely high teens to 20:1. Will find out in an hour when I melt the 8" and  I will post the results.  Yellows on COD radar are right over the airport as I write.

I have not been out to measure, yet, but it's probably 3/4" or so.  I can tell the texture is fluffy.  The rate was ok at first, but has been abysmal for the last hour.  I'm waiting for the relatively heavier stuff to move in from the west.

season snowfall: 27.1"

'20-21: 52.5"      '19-20: 36.2"      '18-19: 50.2"      '17-18: 39.5"      '16-17: 17.9"      '15-16: 20.0"      '14-15: 30.4"      '13-14: 48.3"      '12-13: 34.1"

Average snowfall: ~30"

DSM is now up 23.7" since Dec 1st. . only 2.6" below normal since Dec 1st. Not great. But not nearly as bad as those to the West.

3.2" since noon. Melted down was 0.11". Amazing- 29:1/--- stuff is like cotton candy.

Seems like more time than not central fares well. By the time that band rotates to eastern Iowa it will like pickup speed and get out quickly.

Ripping out there real good.  Accumulating much quicker for sure in the last hour.

Yeah, big flakes are dumping pretty good.

Congrats! About time some of you west of Chicago snagged some action. As for here, radar is blowing chunks so my 1" call might be in jeopardy of busting high, lol

after the last band I posted above- it's all pixie dust after that. Still an impressive ( for this over performer ) 4.6" through 9pm. Might just nickle/dime the way to 5"+.

I finished with a nice 3.2", certainly more than I expected.  The liquid total is only 0.12", so the models were not too dry.  The ratio over-performed.

Glad to see ya scored and reeled in a winner last minute...this thing really jumped north around here...looking at the radar all the heavy stuff is way farther north than the models showed.  This has been the trend it seems all season.

We had about 3 inches.  North of 96 seems to be different weather up here.  We are closer to the 59 .  Canton area has had some good snow in the past.  Its hit an miss this year.  Not sure why, maybe the constant feed of dry air. 🤔  Still learning on here.

This definitely fooled my office with the last-minute push north. Warm layer aka nose aloft over performed no doubt. This was a north side special. How'd you do?

I actually did ok with 3.1” but could’ve done better if the track was farther south so the wind direction was better off the lake.  WI ended up scoring better LEHS/LES and not as much down here.
